Citizenship Delegations
Pursuant to section 4 of the Citizenship Act 1977 and the Citizenship Regulations 1978, the Secretary for Internal Affairs gives the following notice:
Functions:
- Authority to provide forms for the purposes of citizenship, in terms of the Citizenship Act 1977, Citizenship (Western Samoa) Act 1982 and Citizenship Regulations 1978, namely:
(a) Applications for birth registration, pursuant to regulation 3 (1).
(b) Applications under sections 8, 9, and 10 of the Citizenship Act 1977, pursuant to regulation 4.
(c) Application under section 7 of the Citizenship (Western Samoa) Act 1982, pursuant to section 7 (2) of that Act and regulation 4.
(d) Application under section 21 of the Citizenship Act 1977, pursuant to regulation 8.
(e) Declaration of Renunciation under section 15 of the Citizenship Act 1977, pursuant to regulation 10 (1).

- Authority to accept application for registration of birth pursuant to regulation 3.

- Taking (witnessing) declarations of renunciation of New Zealand citizenship.

- Authority to maintain a register and to insert therein entries of citizens who have renounced or been deprived.

- Authority to maintain an alphabetical index of persons granted citizenship under the Citizenship Act 1977 and the Citizenship (Western Samoa) Act 1982.

- Authority to enter (record) the loss of citizenship by any person whose name appears in the Index for the Grants of Citizenship and who ceased to be a citizen either by renunciation or deprivation.

- Issue and authentication (signing) of Citizenship Certificates, pursuant to section 12.
Section 12 (1) and Regulation 6 (3).
- Authority to maintain a Register and alphabetical index of persons granted New Zealand Citizenship.
Regulations 6 (2) and 6 (4).
- Administration of the Citizenship Oath/Affirmation of Allegiance.
Regulation 9.
- Accept the surrender of every citizenship related document where the exemption or condition or status evidenced by it had expired, ceased or been revoked.

Notice of Rural Territorial Fire Authority Cost Eligibility for Applications Concerning the Rural Fire Fighting Fund
Pursuant to section 46c of the Fire Service Act 1975, I, Margaret Elizabeth Austin, Minister of Internal Affairs, after consultation with the Minister of Forestry, hereby give notice that for the period ending on 31 December 1990, applicant rural territorial fire authorities are required to meet the first $2,500 in eligible costs incurred in respect of any fire which is of either of the two types for which grant assistance is available from the Rural Fire Fighting Fund.
