✨ Geothermal Licensing and Video Decisions

NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE

No. 31

Bore owners who currently hold an interim licence or siting and design approval certificate will be required to be licensed in accordance with the requirements of 1, 2 and 3 (c) above, and may be required, at the discretion of the Minister, to comply with the requirements of 3 (a) and (b) above. Compliance with the requirements of 1, 2 and 3 (a)–(c) will be within 2 years from the commencement of this notice or such lesser period as may be determined by the Minister for any particular bore.
All other applications for licences for geothermal bores within the 1.5 kilometre zone (other than those applicants that have had interim licences or who have received a siting and design approval certificate from a geothermal inspector pursuant to regulations 25 and 29 of the Geothermal Energy Regulations 1961) which do not meet the requirements of conditions 1 and 3 above, will be considered in terms of the “exceptional circumstances” policy.
