Imported footwear classified under Chapter 64 of the Tariff of New Zealand which is listed in the First Schedule to the Import Control Regulations 1988 but excluding footwear of a type not manufactured in New Zealand.

Give you notice that it is part of the policy of the Government that:

Assistance to the footwear industry, by way of quantitative restrictions and tariffs applying to imported footwear, be lowered, in accordance with the Footwear Industry Development Plan, to levels which are ultimately comparable to tariffs and quantitative restrictions applying to industries generally.

The determination of any injury and any appropriate remedies should be compatible with New Zealand's international obligations under the ANZCERTA, SPARTECA and the GATT.
