Dumping and Countervailing Duties Act 1988

Termination of Dumping Investigation: Canned Catfood from Australia

Whereas by notice in the New Zealand Gazette of 23 March 1989, I gave a preliminary determination pursuant to section 12 (1) of the Dumping and Countervailing Duties Act 1988, that prepared catfood in airtight containers, put up for retail sale, manufactured by Uncle Ben’s of Australia, and imported or intended to be imported into New Zealand, is a good in respect of which I may direct the imposition of an anti-dumping duty in accordance with section 14 of the Dumping and Countervailing Duties Act 1988:

And whereas I am satisfied in respect of the goods specified above that there is insufficient evidence that material injury to a New Zealand industry has been or is being caused or is threatened or the establishment of a New Zealand industry is being materially retarded by means of the dumping of the goods:

Now therefore, I, David John Butcher, Minister of Commerce, acting pursuant to section 11 (1) (c) of the Dumping and Countervailing Duties Act 1988, hereby give notice that, for the reasons specified above, I have terminated the investigation with respect to the goods specified above.

Dated at Wellington this 15th day of June 1989.

D. BUTCHER, Minister of Commerce.
