Hive Levy Act 1978

Fixing Rate of Hive Levy (Notice No. 4460; Ag 4/19)

Pursuant to section 3 of the Hive Levy Act 1978, having received the recommendation of the National Beekeepers’ Association of New Zealand Incorporated, I hereby fix the annual rate of levy for 1989 at 48 cents per hive.

This levy is to be paid to the association in accordance with sections 4, 5 and 6 of the Hive Levy Act 1978 by every person who is a beekeeper on the 1st day of January 1989.

Fisheries Act 1983

District Anglers (Auckland Acclimatisation District) Notice 1987, Amendment No. 1

Pursuant to section 71 of the Fisheries Act 1983, the Auckland Acclimatisation Society amends the District Anglers (Auckland Acclimatisation District) Notice 1987, No. 164, Supplement to the New Zealand Gazette, 1987, pages 4508 and 4509

  1. Title and commencement—(1) This amending notice may be cited as the District Anglers (Auckland Acclimatisation District) Notice 1987, Amendment No. 1, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the District Anglers (Auckland Acclimatisation District) Notice 1987 (hereinafter referred to as the “principal notice”).

(2) This amending notice shall come into force on the 1st day of October 1988.

  1. Open season—The principal notice is amended by omitting from clause 3 (3) (i) the words “, except Parkinson’s Lake”.

  2. Closed season—Clause 4 of the principal notice is repealed and the following clause is substituted:

“4. Closed season—There shall be a closed season from the 1st day of October 1988 to the 30th day of April 1989 (both days included) in respect of the taking of acclimatised fish from the Awakino River upstream of the State Highway bridge at Mahoenui.”

  1. Authorised tackle—Clause 6 of the principal notice is amended—

(1) By inserting in subclause (1) after “rod and running line” the words “except a roach pole may be used to fish for and take non-salmonid acclimatised fish.”

(2) By omitting from paragraph (a) of subclause (2) the words “or gaff” and “, except that a gaff may not be used in the Wanganui River”.

(3) By omitting from paragraph (b) of subclause (2) the words “of not more than 2 metres in depth and”.

(4) By deleting subparagraph (xi) from paragraph (b) of subclause (2) and substituting the following—

“(xi) The Hikutaia Cut:

(xii) Lake Tomarata:

(xiii) Lake Rotoroa (Hamilton Lake):

(xiv) Lake Hakanoa:

(xv) Any other pond or lake contained within any freehold land title.”

(5) By inserting in paragraph (c) of subclause (7) after “and fly” the following words: “, accepting that ‘artificial fly’ includes any lure of feather, fur, wool, or other material of any kind customarily used in the making of artificial flies, but does not include any lure in the tying of which any lead or other weight has been incorporated, unless the hook used in that lure does not exceed 20 mm in length (exclusive of the eye) and the gape of the hook does not exceed 7 mm and the hook is not larger than No. 8 (‘Redditch’ or ‘old’ scale)”.

(6) By repealing subclause (7) (k) (i).

  1. Authorised lures and baits—Clause 10 of the principal notice is amended by deleting subclause (xi) and substituting the following:

“(xi) The Hikutaia Cut:

(xii) Lake Tomarata:

(xiii) Lake Rotoroa (Hamilton Lake):

(xiv) Lake Hakanoa:

(xv) Any other pond or lake contained within any freehold land title.”
