Plan 1491; thence down the middle of that river to the sea coast; thence north-easterly along the line of the mean-high water mark to the middle of the mouth of the Manawatu River; thence up the middle of that River (following its course through Papaioea Block, the Whirokino Diversion and the Taupunga Cutting) to the point of commencement; excluding therefrom the Borough of Levin as described in New Zealand Gazette, 1976, page 2086 and the Borough of Otaki as described in New Zealand Gazette, 1986, page 774.

Manawatu County Boundary Definition Notice 1988
Pursuant to section 48 of the Local Government Act 1974, the Secretary for Local Government gives the following notice:

This notice may be cited as the Manawatu County Boundary Definition Notice 1988.

The boundary of Manawatu County is hereby defined as set out in the Schedule hereto, that boundary having been altered by the Horowhenua County - Manawatu County Boundary Alteration Order 1987, which was published in the New Zealand Gazette, 15 October 1987, No. 178, page 4714, and which came into force on 16 October 1987.

Manawatu County
All that area in the Wellington Land District containing 691.8 square kilometres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of the Rangitikei River in line with the south-western boundary of Lot 6, D.P. 2853 in Block XII, Rangitoto Survey District, and proceeding south-easterly to and along that boundary to the north-western side of Mingaroa Road; thence north-easterly along that side for a distance of 400 metres, thence south-easterly by a right line to the south-western boundary of Lot 2, D.P. 14787, along that boundary and its production to the eastern side of Mount Stewart Halcombe Road, thence south-easterly along the north-eastern boundaries of Lot 1, D.P. 61856, Section 111, Town of Sandon, Lot 1, D.P. 20193, part Section 112, Town of Sandon, Lot 1, D.P. 19996 and the aforesaid part Section 112, to the middle of the Mangaone West Stream; thence generally southerly down the middle of that stream to the middle of Te Rakehou Road; thence westerly and southerly along the middle of that road to a point in line with the northern boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 41895; thence easterly to and along that boundary and the northern boundaries of Lots 2 and 3, D.P. 41895 to the western boundary of Section 122, Town of Sandon; thence northerly, easterly and southerly along the western, northern and eastern boundaries of the said Section 122, to and easterly along the northern boundaries of Sections 123, 127 and 128, Town of Sandon, and southerly along the eastern boundary of the last-mentioned section to the south-western corner of part Section 23, Town of Sandon; thence easterly along the southern boundaries of the aforesaid Section 23 and Lot 3, D.P. 11842 to and along the middle of Highfield Road to a point in line with the eastern boundary of Lot 2, D.P. 5548; thence to and along that boundary and generally southerly and easterly along the western and southern boundaries of the Borough of Feilding as described in New Zealand Gazette, 1971, page 501, to the north-eastern side of the North Island Main Trunk Railway as shown on S.O. Plan 33116; thence south-easterly along the production of that side to the middle of the Oroua River; thence down the middle of that river to its intersection with the middle of the Manawatu River; thence down the middle of the said river (following its course through the Taupungaa Cutting, the Whirokino Diversion and the Papaioea Block) to the seacoast; thence northerly along the sea coast to the middle of the mouth of the Rangitikei River; thence up the middle of that river to the point of commencement, excluding therefrom the Borough of Foxton as described in New Zealand Gazette, 1941, page 86.
