(2) Water rights may be granted and general authorisations may
be made in respect of any part of the protected waters for all, or
any of the following purposes:
(i) minor takes associated with agricultural or horticultural activ-
ities provided that the combined quantity of all takes from
the protected waters does not exceed 30 litres/second and
that any irrigation use is for private individual horticul-
tural schemes and the applicants have investigated and
failed to discover any practicable alternative sources or
methods of supply;
(ii) diversions associated with the extraction of aggregate from the
bed or flood plain of the protected waters provided that
such extraction serves river control purposes;
(iii) activities associated with the maintenance and construction
of pipelines, roads and bridges;
(iv) activities undertaken for flood and erosion control purposes
pursuant to the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Act
1941 and for water resources surveys undertaken pursuant
to the Water and Soil Conservation Act, 1967;
(v) activities involving research into, or enhancement of fish-
eries or wildlife habitats, or enhancement of the other
amenities protected by this notice.

Notice of Intention to Vary Hours of Sale of Liquor at Licensed
Premises—Hamilton Licensing Committee
PURSUANT to section 221A (14) of the Sale of Liquor Act 1962 as
amended by section 22 (1) of the Sale of Liquor Amendment Act
1976, I, Stanley James Callahan, Secretary for Justice, hereby give
notice that the Hamilton Licensing Committee on 30 August 1985
made an order authorising variations of the usual hours of trading
for the licensed premises known as the Red Fox Tavern—
Maramarua and the National Hotel—Cambridge.
To the intent that on days other than those on which licensed
premises are required to be closed for the sale of liquor to the general
public the hours for the opening and closing of the said premises
shall be as follows:
RED FOX TAVERN
(a) On any Saturday—Opening at 10 o’clock in the morning and
closing at 10 o’clock in the evening.
NATIONAL HOTEL
(a) On any Friday, Saturday and Christmas Eve—Opening at 11
o’clock in the morning and closing at 11 o’clock in the
evening.
(b) On any New Year’s Eve—Opening at 11 o’clock in the morning
and closing at 00.30 o’clock on the morning of New Year’s
Day.

Notice of Approval of Bylaws
I, Derek Ernest Homewood, Secretary for Transport, pursuant to
section 8A of the Harbours Act 1950, and in exercise of powers
delegated to me pursuant to section 8 of the Ministry of Transport
Act 1968, hereby approve the Kapiti Borough Council Water Control
Bylaws 1985 made by special order and confirmed on 23 October
1985.

Exemption from Equipment Requirements
PURSUANT to regulation 90 (1) of the Traffic Regulations 1976*, the
motor vehicles specified in the Schedule hereto are hereby exempt
from the requirements of subclause (1) of regulation 73A of the said
regulations.

ANY ISUZU model KB28, KB48 or NKR552 light truck, first regis-
tered before the 1st day of July 1986.
Pursuant to powers delegation to me by the Secretary for Trans-
port by an instrument of delegation dated the 28th day of March
1985.

PURSUANT to the Transport Act 1962, a delegation from the Minister
of Transport, and a subdelegation from the Secretary for Transport,
I, Carne Maurice Clissold, Chief Traffic Engineer, give the following
notice:
NOTICE
This notice may be cited as the Traffic (Horowhenua County)
Notice No. 2, 1985.
The roads specified in the First Schedule are declared to be closely
populated localities for the purposes of section 52 of the Transport
Act 1962.
The roads specified in the Second Schedule are declared to be 70
kilometres an hour speed limit areas pursuant to regulation 21 (2)
of the Traffic Regulations 1976.
