(4) It shall be permissible to make up the difference between a lesser limit bag prescribed in one place and a higher limit bag prescribed in another place.

Minimum size to be taken—(1) No licence holder shall take or have in his possession any acclimatised fish which does not exceed:
(a) 35 cm in length if taken from Lake Alexandrina or McGregor;
(b) 25 cm in length if taken from any other waters.(2) Every licence holder taking a trout or salmon which does not exceed the specified length shall immediately return it with as little injury as possible into the water from which it was taken.

Revocation—The notice published in the supplement to Gazette No. 183 of Thursday, 11 October 1984, on pages 4284-4286 titled District Anglers (South Canterbury and Waitaki Valley Acclimatisation Districts) Notice 1984, is hereby revoked.

District Anglers (Auckland Acclimatisation District) Notice 1985
Pursuant to section 71 of the Fisheries Act 1983, the Auckland Acclimatisation Society hereby gives the following District Anglers Notice.
NOTICE
-
Title and commencement—This notice may be cited as the District Anglers (Auckland Acclimatisation District) Notice 1985, and shall come into force on the 1st day of October 1985.

Interpretation—Words and expressions in this notice which are defined in the Fisheries Act 1983 or the Freshwater Fisheries Regulations 1983 shall have the meanings so defined.

Open season—(1) Subject to subclauses (2), (3), and (4) of this clause and clauses 4 and 5 of this notice, there shall be an open season for fishing for acclimatised fish from the 1st day of October in any year to the 30th day of April in the following year (both days inclusive).
(2) There shall be an open season for fishing for acclimatised fish from the 1st day of May to the 30th day of June in the same year (both days inclusive) in the Wanganui River upstream from its confluence with the Whakapapa River.
(3) There shall be an open season for fishing for acclimatised fish from the 1st day of October in any year to the 30th day of September in the following year (both days inclusive) in the following waters—
(i) All lakes within the Auckland Acclimatisation District except Parkinson’s Lake;
(ii) The Wairoa River;
(iii) The Waiohau River and its tributaries, the Waima Stream;
(iv) The Maratoa Stream, from the ford on the old Whangamarino track (also known locally as the Wires Track) near the junction with the Hamutu Stream, to its confluence with the Wairoa River;
(v) The Onewhero River, from the concrete bridge (known as the Victoria Street Bridge on the boundary between Waikato and Ohinemuri County) to its confluence with the Waihou River;
(vi) The Waitaheke Stream, from the upstream end of the public vehicle access on Franklin road (as shown by a signpost) to its confluence with the Ohinemuri River;
(vii) The Waikato River;
(viii) The Waipa River downstream from Toa Bridge (some 16 km upstream from Otohanga) to its confluence with the Waikato River;
(ix) The Puniu River downstream from the Wharepapa Road bridge to its confluence with the Waipa River;
(x) The Mangawhio River between the Waikato River and the falls;
(xi) The Marokopa River from its junction with the Mangatuabua Stream to its mouth;
(xii) The Mangatoki River, from Batley’s Bridge (as shown by a signpost on the Mangatoki Road (Pio Pio), to its confluence with the Mokau River;
(xiii) The Wanganui River, downstream from its confluence with the Whakapapa River.(4) No licence holder shall fish for or take any acclimatised fish except during an open season.

Closed Season—There shall be a closed season in respect of the taking of acclimatised fish from Parkinson’s Lake.

Fishing prohibited between certain hours—In the Wanganui River no person shall take trout during the period between the hours of 12 midnight and 5 a.m.

Authorised tackle—(1) No licence holder shall fish for or take any acclimatised fish except by using a rod and running line.
(2) Notwithstanding subclause (1) of this clause,
(a) when playing an acclimatised fish a landing net or gaff may be used to secure or land any such fish, except that a gaff may not be used in the Wanganui River;
(b) for keeping alive non-salmonid acclimatised fish, a keep net of not more than 2 metres in depth and placed so as to have the entry above the waterline may be used in the following waters—
(i) Lake Kuwakatai;
(ii) Lake Kereta;
(iii) Lake Okawau;
(iv) Lake Ototoa;
(v) Lake Pupuke;
(vi) Smales Quarry Lake;
(vii) Lake Pakuri;
(viii) The Mangawhiri River from the bridge on State Highway 2, to its confluence with the Waikato River;
(ix) The Whangamarino River;
(x) Quarry Road Dam Ardmore;
(xi) Papakura City Water Supply Dam;
(xii) Any other pond or lake contained within any freehold land title.(3) No licence holder shall use in fishing for acclimatised fish or have under his control more than one assembled rod and running line at any one time.
(4) No licence holder shall fish for acclimatised fish unless he is within 15 metres of the rod he is using and has the rod under his own visual observation, except in the Wanganui River where a person must remain in attendance of the rod and line at all times.
(5) No licence holder shall cast with any fly line within 50 m of the shore of Hamilton Lake, except within the boundaries of that portion of the shore allocated by in a casting range.
(6) No licence holder shall fish for acclimatised fish from any boat or launch in that part of the Waikato River between the upper limits of Lake Karapiro and the tail race of Lake Arapuni, unless such boat or launch is securely anchored.
(7) No licence holder when fishing for acclimatised fish shall use—
(a) more than 2 lures or baits;
(b) any lead or weight attached below or so as to hang below any lure or bait;
(c) in any water in which only artificial fly fishing is permitted, any lead or weight other than the necessary weight of line, cast, and fly;
(d) any artificial fly having a multiple hook, or a hook which has a greater distance than 14 mm between the point and the nearest part of the shank;
(e) any bait or lure treated with any medicinal or chemical preparation other than—(i) in the case of artificial fly, oil used solely to give buoyancy to such flies; and
(ii) in the case of natural baits, a formalin or other preservative preparation;(f) any wire, either plain or twisted, or any gimp trace or cast of a greater thickness than 0.82 mm;
(g) any wire or gimp trace or cast of a greater length than 1.8 metres;
(h) on or in conjunction with any spoonbait, minnow, or other lure any single or other fixed multiple assembly of hooks any one hook of which has a greater distance than 13 mm between the point and the nearest part of the shank of the hook;
(i) in conjunction with any spoonbait or artificial minnow, any lead or weight affixed to the trace or line at a distance of less than 38 cm above the lure;
(j) as a lure or bait any fish taken from any water other than that in which it is being used as a lure or bait;
(k) any lure or bait other than artificial fly in the following waters—(i) The Hingaia Stream and its tributaries;
(ii) The Wairoa River and its tributaries above the Hunua Falls;
(iii) The Taurau River and its tributaries;
(iv) The Kaungaaranga River and its tributaries;
(v) The Komata Stream and its tributaries;
(vi) The Maratoa Stream and its tributaries from its source to the ford on the old Whangamarino track;
(vii) The Kakaho Stream (north-east of Okoroire) and its tributaries;
(viii) The Waipapa River and its tributaries upstream from the first waterfall situated approximately 0.5 km from Lake Waipapa;
(ix) The Mangatu Stream and its tributaries from its source to the Lethbridge Road Bridge;
(x) The Puniu River and its tributaries from its source to the Baylys Road Bridge;
(xi) The Kaniwhaniwha Stream and its tributaries from its source on Pirongia Mountain to its confluence with the Waipa River;
(xii) The Ngakoaoia Stream from its source on Pirongia Mountain to the bridge on State Highway 31.
