37.4 Measurement

37.4.1 Calculation
Cubic volume shall be calculated as the product of the linear measurement of a package taken between the maximum extremities in three directions at right angles to each other. This means that the cubic volume is found by multiplying the length by the breadth by the height.

37.4.2 Displacement volume
A displacement cubic volume calculation method is not to be used, meaning that consignments are to be squared off for calculation purposes. The Corporation may exercise its discretion in the case of unusual package shapes which can be overstowed.

37.4.3 Unpacked consignments
Where inadequate packaging precludes overstowing, the Corporation reserves the right to calculate the cubic volume as if the package is 2.4 metres in height.

37.4.4 Packaging
Cubic volume calculations shall include any packaging, cases, pallets or containers.

37.4.5 Gross weight
The gross weight or mass for charging calculations shall include any packaging, cases, pallets or containers and shall be the actual weight at the time of presentation to the Corporation.

37.5 Separate consignments
Except as otherwise provided, goods from different consignors to one consignee, or from one consignor to different consignees, or between more than two locations, shall be charged separately.

37.6 Grouped packages
Except where otherwise provided the weights of two or more packages or commodities in any one consignment chargeable on the same basis may be grouped for charging purposes.

Clause 38 (p. 2281) omit this clause and substitute:

38 UNITISATION INCENTIVE
A discount of $1.00 per tonne shall apply to goods presented to the Corporation for transport in either a palletised or containerised form PROVIDED that the discount will not be available where either the unitising equipment is provided by the Corporation free of charge or the goods are charged at prices other than those specified in this scale of charges.

Clause 39 (p. 2283) omit this clause and substitute:

39 PREMIUM FREIGHT
The Corporation reserves the right to charge a premium for unusually fragile, valuable, perishable or hazardous goods, goods of an unusual dimension or goods carried under special service conditions.
