Fire Districts Boundaries (West Coast) Notice 1983

PURSUANT to section 26 of the Fire Service Act 1978, the New Zealand Fire Service Commission hereby gives the following notice.

NOTICE

1. Title and commencement—(1) This notice may be cited as the Fire Districts Boundaries (West Coast) Notice 1983.

(2) This notice shall come into effect on the 1st day of September 1983.

2. Fire District Boundaries—The boundaries of the following Fire Districts have been altered and shall henceforth be as defined in the Schedules hereto:

(1) The Greymouth Fire District being all that area described in the First Schedule hereto.

(2) The Brunner Fire District being all that area described in the Second Schedule hereto.

(3) The Kumara Fire District being all that area described in the Third Schedule hereto.

(4) The Ngahere Fire District being all that area described in the Fourth Schedule hereto.

(5) The Blackball Fire District being all that area described in the Fifth Schedule hereto.

(6) The Reefton Fire District being all that area described in the Sixth Schedule hereto.

(7) The Runanga Fire District being all that area described in the Seventh Schedule hereto.

(8) The Hokitika Fire District being all that area described in the Eighth Schedule hereto.

(9) The Fox Glacier Fire District being all that area described in the Ninth Schedule hereto.

(10) The Harihari Fire District being all that area described in the Tenth Schedule hereto.

(11) The Whataroa Fire District being all that area described in the Eleventh Schedule hereto.

(12) The Ross Fire District being all that area described in the Twelfth Schedule hereto.

(13) The Westport Fire District being all that area described in the Thirteenth Schedule hereto.

(14) The Granity Fire District being all that area described in the Fourteenth Schedule hereto.

(15) The Karamea Fire District being all that area described in the Fifteenth Schedule hereto.

(16) The Waimangaroa Fire District being all that area described in the Sixteenth Schedule hereto.

FIRST SCHEDULE
GREYMOUTH FIRE DISTRICT

ALL that area in the Westland Land District, County of Grey, and Borough of Greymouth, containing 8060 hectares approximately, bounded by a line commencing at a point on the mean high water mark of the sea at the abutment of North Beach Road, situated in Block II, Cobden Survey District, and proceeding easterly along that abutment and the northern boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 2993 to its easternmost corner, thence southerly generally along the generally western boundary of part Reserve 974 to the easternmost corner of Section 223, Square 119; thence south-easterly along part Section 164, Square 119, crossing a legal road and the Rewanui Branch Railway, and along the production of the last-mentioned boundary to the middle of Coal Creek; thence easterly up the middle of that creek and Bridge (or McLean) Creek, to the south-western boundary of Rural Section 5716, situated in Block V, Cobden Survey District; thence north-westerly, north-easterly, and south-easterly along the south-western, north-western, and north-eastern boundaries of that rural section and their production to the middle of the Grey River, thence westerly generally down the middle of that river to a point in line with the western boundary of MR 33, situated in Block IX, Arnold Survey District;

Thence southerly to and along that boundary and the eastern side of Kaiata Road to the north-western corner of Reserve 1600; thence southerly generally along the generally western boundary of that reserve to the generally northern boundary of part Reserve 1959; thence generally northerly, westerly and southerly along the generally eastern, north and western boundaries of that reserve and the western boundary of Rural Section 1512 to the northern boundary of Rural Section 1551, situated in Block XVI, Greymouth Survey District; thence westerly along that boundary to the eastern side of Marsden Road; thence southerly along that roadside and its production to the middle of legal road fronting Rural Section 2021; thence westerly along the middle of that road to the middle of Saltwater Creek; thence westerly generally down the middle of that creek to a point in line with the western boundary of Rural Section 4409, situated in Block XVI, Greymouth Survey District; thence due west along a right line to the mean high water mark of the sea; thence northerly along that mean high water mark to the point of commencement;

As the same is more particularly delineated on plan No. OPS 4/1/5D01, deposited in the National Headquarters of the New Zealand Fire Service at Wellington and thereon bordered red.

SECOND SCHEDULE
BRUNNER FIRE DISTRICT

ALL that area in the Westland Land District, County of Grey, containing 5500 hectares, approximately, bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of the Grey River in line with the western boundary of M.R. 33, situated in Block IX, Arnold Survey District and proceeding easterly generally up the middle of that river to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary of part Section 2A, Square 119; thence north-westerly to and along that boundary to the westernmost corner of Section 7, Block IX, Mawheranui Survey District; thence easterly generally along the generally southern boundaries of Rural Section 5390 and parts Reserve 1595 to the easternmost corner of Section 1, Square 118; thence south-westerly along the south-eastern boundary of Section 20, Square 118; thence south-easterly across the Grey River and to and along that boundary to the southernmost corner of that section; thence southerly along a right line crossing No. 7 State Highway to the northernmost corner of part Section 104, Block X, Mawheranui Survey District; thence southerly generally along the generally western boundaries of parts Reserve 1714 and Section 108, Block X, Mawheranui Survey District to the westernmost corner of Rural Section 2721; thence south-westerly along the south-eastern boundary of that section and Rural Section 2720 and the last-mentioned boundary produced to the middle of the Arnold River;

Thence southerly up the middle of that river to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary of part Rural Section 1276, situated in Block XV, Arnold Survey District; thence south-westerly to and along that boundary to its southernmost corner; thence south-westerly along a right line crossing the Midland Railway and Arnold Valley Road to the easternmost corner of Lot 3, D.P. 2210; thence south-easterly, south-westernly and north-westerly along the north-eastern, south-eastern, and south-western boundaries of that section to the northern boundary of part Reserve 1605; thence westerly along the eastern boundary of Rural Section 1599; thence southerly and westerly along the eastern and southern boundaries of that section crossing legal roads and Kaiata Creek and along the abutment of A K Road to the western side of that road; thence northerly along that roadside to the southern boundary of Rural Section 1880; thence westerly along that boundary to the eastern side of Kaiata Road; thence northerly along that roadside and the western boundary of the M.R. 33 and the production of the last-mentioned boundary to the point of commencement;

THIRD SCHEDULE
KUMARA FIRE DISTRICT

ALL that area in the Westland Land District, Counties of Grey and Westland, containing 5000 hectares, approximately, bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of Taramakau River on the mean high water mark of the Tasman Sea and proceeding south-easterly up the middle of that river and the middle of Big Hohonu (Greenstone) River to a point in line with the western boundary of Rural Section 5536, situated in Block XII, Waima Survey District; thence southerly to and along that boundary to the northern side of Kumara Inchbonnie Road; thence easterly along that roadside to a right line across that road and continuing along the western boundary of that reserve to the northern boundary of part Reserve 1747; thence westerly along the northern boundary of that reserve to its westernmost corner; thence south-easterly along the south-western boundary of that reserve to the western boundary of Rural Section 3641; thence south-westerly along the north-western
