1.8 Registered Number—Means a number allocated to the plant or timber merchant and approved by the Authority in writing in accordance with Regulation 9 of the Timber Preservation Regulations 1955.
1.9 Commodity Number—Means the letter “C” followed by the number of the commodity as set out in the publication Timber Preservation in New Zealand: Specifications.
1.10 Roundwood—Means round posts, poles, piles and stays and also includes “half-rounds” and “quarter rounds” sawn before treatment.
1.11 Remote from the Site—Means at a place outside the premises on which the treatment plant is located.
- Sawn Timber—All treated timber shall be identified by end brand in the case of rough sawn timber, or surface brand or end brand in addition to surface brand (see clause 2.2) in the case of machined timber in the manner described below. Exemptions from the need to brand sawn timber are listed in clause 2.3 below.
2.1.1 Timber treated to Commodity Specification C8 (low hazard building timbers) which is dressed or planer gauged at or adjacent to the treatment plant at which it is treated shall be branded in accordance with clause 2.2 below.
2.1.2 Treated timber cut at or adjacent to the treatment plant for subsequent finger jointing remote from the site shall be packet branded as detailed in clause 1.6.
2.1.3 Timber treated to Commodity Specification C8 which shall be burn branded on or at the end with the registered number only.
2.1.4 Timber treated for ground retention or higher and not longer than 1.5 metres nor greater than 5000 mm in cross section may be packet branded in accordance with clause 1.6.
2.2 Machined Timber—All timber, which is machined prior to or subsequent to preservative treatment, shall be repetitively surface branded in accordance with clause 1.4.1 above, except:
2.2.1 Timber treated to a specification higher than C8 shall have the commodity reference included in the repetitive surface brand or shall be branded on the end in accordance with clauses 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3 above, in addition to the repetitive surface brand.
2.2.2 Where a clear face is required on all four sides, provided a dispensation in accordance with paragraph 6 below is obtained, timber may be either:
2.2.2.1 branded with a single surface brand within 150 mm of the end;
or
2.2.2.2 end branded as detailed in clauses 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3.
2.2.3 Timber which is dressed or planer gauged on less than 4 surfaces shall either be surface branded in accordance with subclauses 1.4.1 above or end branded in accordance with clause 1.3 above.
2.2.4 Timber which is dressed or planer gauged remote from the site before treatment shall not be surface branded prior to treatment but shall be end branded at the treatment plant in accordance with clause 1.3 above. In addition, the edge of each piece of the outer tiers of the packet is to be burn branded not less than 1 m from the butt end. (Details of this branding may be found in section B of the publication “Timber Preservation in New Zealand: Specifications” or obtained from the Secretary TPA.)
2.2.5 Finger jointed material treated to a Commodity Specification other than C8 shall be repetitively surface branded in accordance with clause 1.4.1 above and in addition either:
2.2.5.1 include the commodity specification reference in such brand;
or
2.2.5.2 end brand in accordance with clause 1.3.

Roundwood—All roundwood shall be branded as detailed in clauses 1.1 (brand), 1.2 (burn brand), and 1.3 (end brand), or with a disc as described in clause 1.7 above.

Veneer, Plywood and Particle Board—
4.1 Veneer and Plywood Low-Hazard Protection:
4.1.1 Plywood made from veneers treated to Commodity Specification C10 or pressure treated in made-up form shall be branded on the back or edge of each sheet with the plywood manufacturer’s name, mark, or registered number, plus the identification “C10”.
4.1.2 Veneers treated to Commodity Specification C10 for disposal for manufacture into plywood shall have each package or bundle marked with the registered number of the treatment plant with, as a minimum, the identification “C10”.
4.1.3 Plywood made up from untreated veneers and with an insecticide added to the glue shall be branded on the back or edge of each sheet with, as a minimum, the plywood manufacturer’s name, or registered number or trade mark and such brand shall include the words “TREATED-TGL”.
4.2 Veneer and Plywood Moderate Hazard Protection:
4.2.1 Plywood made from veneers treated to Commodity Specification C11 or pressure treated in made-up form shall be branded on the back or edge of each sheet with the plywood manufacturer’s name, mark, or registered number, plus the identification “C11”.
4.2.2 Veneers treated to C11 and disposed of for manufacture into plywood shall have each package or bundle marked with the registered number of the treated plant together with the identification “C11”.
4.3 Plywood destined for treatment in made-up form at a plant remote from the manufacturer’s premises may be branded by the manufacturer on the back or edge of each sheet in accordance with 4.1.1 and 4.2.1 above provided each pack is clearly marked with an approved tag signifying that the material is “untreated”. The tag may only be removed at the treatment plant after treatment. Packs may only be broken open at the treatment plant before treatment to facilitate cylinder loading. The above arrangement must be approved by the local TPA officer on individual application.
4.4 Particle Board Moderate Hazard Protection: Particle Board treated to Commodity Specification C12 shall be branded on the back or edge of each sheet with the manufacturer’s name, mark, or registered number with, as a minimum, the identification “C12”.

Time of Branding—Where end branding is required, it must be carried out immediately prior to or within 2 working days of treatment.

Dispensations—Notwithstanding anything in the provisions of this notice, the Authority may, if at thinks fit, in special circumstances, grant dispensation from any of the foregoing provisions.

Effective Date—The provisions of this notice shall come into force on the 1st day of April 1982.

Previous notice cancelled—The provisions of previous notices published in the Gazette are hereby revoked.

New Zealand Poultry Board—Notice of Amendment to the Boundaries of the Christchurch Egg Marketing Area (Notice No. 2770, Ag. 4/57/1 (a))
PURSUANT to regulation 3 of the Poultry Board Regulations 1980, the New Zealand Poultry Board hereby gives notice that as from the 5th day of April 1982, the boundaries of the Christchurch Egg Marketing Area as defined in the First Schedule to the said regulations are hereby amended by substituting for the description of the Christchurch Egg Marketing Area as set out in the said First Schedule the following description, together with the land extending outwards therefrom to a distance of 60 metres:
All that area in the Canterbury Land District bounded by a line commencing at the intersection of the middle of Dyers Pass Road and Summit Road and proceeding south-westerly along the middle of the last-mentioned road to its intersection with the middle of Worsleys Road; thence north-westerly along the middle of Worsleys Road to a point in line with the north-western boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 6658; thence south-westerly to and along that boundary, the north-western boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 19318, and the production of the last-mentioned boundary to the western side of Hoon Hay Valley Road; thence generally north-westerly along that roadside to its intersection with the south-eastern side of Cashmere Road; thence south-westerly along the last-mentioned roadside to the eastern boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 34670; thence generally southerly along that boundary and its production to the southern side of Kennedys Bush Road; thence westerly along that roadside to the northern
