Amending a Notice Declaring Land Acquired for a Government Work and Not Required for That Purpose to be Crown Land in the City of New Plymouth
PURSUANT to section 330A of the Public Works Act 1928, the Minister of Works and Development hereby amends the Notice dated the 22nd day of October 1980 and published in New Zealand Gazette, 30 October 1980, No. 128, p. 3201, declaring land acquired for a Government work and not required for that purpose to be Crown land in the City of New Plymouth, by omitting from the body of the Notice the words “resolution No. 14770” and substituting the words “resolution No. 147740”.

Central Institute of Technology Notice 1980
PURSUANT to section 69 of the Education Act 1964, the Minister of Education gives the following notice.
NOTICE
-
(1) This notice may be cited as the Central Institute of Technology Notice 1980.
(2) This notice shall come into force on the day of the publication in the Gazette. -
There shall be a Board of Governors to be known as the Council of the Central Institute of Technology which shall control the Central Institute of Technology.

The Council of the Central Institute of Technology shall be constituted as follows:
(a) One member appointed by the New Zealand Employers’ Federation;
(b) One member appointed by the New Zealand Federation of Labour;
(c) One member appointed by the New Zealand Manufacturers’ Federation;
(d) One member appointed by the Pharmaceutical Society of New Zealand;
(e) One member appointed by the Hospital Boards Association of New Zealand;
(f) One member appointed by the New Zealand Institution of Engineers;
(g) One member appointed by the New Zealand Society of Accountants;
(h) One member appointed by the New Zealand Vice-Chancellors Committee;
(i) One member appointed by the Council of the Royal Society of New Zealand;
(j) One member who shall be the Director-General of Education, or that person’s nominee;
(k) One member who shall be the Director-General of Health or that person’s nominee;
(l) One member who shall be the Secretary of Labour or that person’s nominee;
(m) One member who shall be the principal of the Central Institute of Technology;
(n) One member who shall represent the teaching staff of the Central Institute of Technology and who shall be elected by full-time teachers employed by the Council and who shall be a full-time teacher employed by the Council;
(o) One member who shall represent the full-time non-teaching staff of the Central Institute of Technology and shall be elected by the full-time non-teaching staff employed by the Council and shall be employed by the Council;
(p) (i) One member who shall represent the students of the Central Institute of Technology, and who shall be elected to a term of office of one academic year by students of the Institute, and who shall be a student of the Institute;
Provided that the election of the student member for each subsequent academic year shall take place as soon as practicable after the commencement of each academic year;
(ii) For the purposes of subparagraph (i) of paragraph (p) of this clause, a “student of the Institute” shall be defined as any student enrolled in a course of study at the Central Institute of Technology at the time of the calling of nominations for the election of the student representative, and the term “academic year” shall be defined as being the period from the 1st day of February in any one calendar year to the 31st day of January in the subsequent calendar year;
(q) Not more than five members may be co-opted by the Council itself, if and when it thinks fit.
- (1) Subject to the provisions of this clause and the provisions of subparagraph (i) of paragraph (p) of clause 3 of this notice, the members of the Council of the Central Institute of Technology shall hold office for a term of 3 years but may, from time to time, be reappointed or re-elected.
(2) Every co-opted member of the Council shall be appointed for such terms not exceeding 3 years, as the Council thinks fit.
(3) Except in the case of a casual vacancy or as otherwise provided in this clause:
(i) Every member, except the member elected pursuant to subparagraph (i) of paragraph (p) of clause 3 of this notice, the members of the Council of the Central Institute of Technology, shall hold office until the 31st day of August in the third year after the year of appointment or election and if, on the 31st day of August, the appointment or election of a successor has not been notified to the Council, the member shall continue to hold office until the date on which that appointment or election is notified.
(ii) The member elected pursuant to subparagraph (i) of paragraph (p) of clause 3 of this notice shall hold office until the 31st day of January in the year after the year of election and if, on the 31st day of January, the election of a successor has not been notified to the Council, the member shall continue to hold office until the date on which that election is notified.
(4) If any member dies, or resigns office by writing to the Council or the Chairman or the Secretary thereof, or is absent without leave from the meetings of the Council for 3 consecutive months, or while holding office becomes ineligible to remain a member by reason of disability, insolvency, neglect of duty, or misconduct, the casual vacancy so created shall be filled as soon as practicable thereafter by the appointment or election of a member in the manner in which the vacating member was appointed or elected and the member appointed or elected to fill the vacancy shall hold office for the residue of the term of office of the member being replaced.
(5) The powers of the Council shall not be affected by any vacancy in the membership thereof.
- The Central Institute of Technology Notice 1977* is hereby revoked.

PURSUANT to section 69 of the Education Act 1964, the Minister of Education hereby gives the following notice.

(1) This notice may be cited as the New Zealand Technical Correspondence Institute Notice 1980.
(2) This notice shall come into force on the date of its publication in the Gazette. -
There shall be a board of governors for the New Zealand Technical Correspondence Institute, which shall be known as the New Zealand Technical Correspondence Institute Council, and which shall be constituted as follows:
(a) The Director-General of Education or that person’s deputy;
(b) The Commissioner of Apprenticeship, or that person’s deputy;
