The Water Recreation (Oreti River) Notice 1979—Invercargill City Council

Pursuant to the Water Recreation Regulations 1979*, I, Robin Paul Taylor of the Ministry of Transport, in exercise of the powers delegated by the Minister of Transport, hereby give the following notice.

NOTICE

  1. (a) This notice may be cited as the Water Recreation (Oreti River) Notice 1979.
    (b) This notice shall come into force on the date of its publication in the Gazette and shall remain in force until further notice.

  2. Subject to the conditions set forth in the Second Schedule hereto, regulations 7 (1) (a) and (b), 7 (2) and 8 (1) (a) and (b) and 8 (2) of the Water Recreation Regulations 1979 shall not apply to the area of water described in the First Schedule hereto.

  3. Notice is hereby given that the Motor Launch (Oreti River) Notice 1979 is hereby revoked.

FIRST SCHEDULE

Firstly, all the waters of the Oreti River between the following boundaries:
(a) Southward of a line drawn in an east-west direction running from the western boundary to the eastern boundary of the river in line with the south side of the Dunns Road river bridge.
(b) Northward of a line drawn in an east-west direction running from the western boundary to the western boundary of the river in transit with the southern boundary of Crawford Road, Otatara.

Secondly, all the waters of the Oreti River between the following boundaries:
(a) Eastward of a line drawn in a north-east direction across the river from a position on the south-western river bank, 800 metres northwest of the Southland Water Ski and Runabout Club control tower.
(b) Westward of a line drawn in a northerly direction across the river from a position on the southern river bank, 2040 metres eastward of the Southland Water Ski and Runabout Club control tower.

SECOND SCHEDULE

  1. Notwithstanding any other provision of this notice, no person who is permitted by any such provision to propel or navigate a small craft at a speed through the water exceeding 5 knots shall do so in any manner that is likely to endanger or unduly annoy any person who is in, on, or using the water, or fishing or undertaking any recreational activity in the vicinity of the small craft.

  2. All persons in charge of a vessel or when water ski-ing shall adhere to and keep the provisions of all other Acts and regulations not specifically exempted by this notice.

  3. A suitable notice as may be approved by the Regional Marine Officer, Ministry of Transport, Christchurch, shall be erected at each end of each boundary as outlined in the area firstly and secondly described in the First Schedule hereto.

Industrial Relations Act 1973—Proposed Cancellation of Registration of Industrial Union

Pursuant to section 193 of the Industrial Relations Act 1973, it is hereby notified that the registration of the Wellington Sports Goods Workers' Industrial Union of Workers, Registered No. 1992, situated at care of Slazengers (N.Z.) Ltd., Jackson Street, Petone, will, unless cause to the contrary is shown, be cancelled on the expiration of 6 weeks from the date of the publication of this notice in the Gazette.

Industrial Relations Act 1973—Proposed Cancellation of Registration of Industrial Union

Pursuant to section 195 of the Industrial Relations Act 1973, it is hereby notified that the registration of the New Zealand Federated Motion Picture Projectionists' Industrial Association of Workers, Registered No. 1453, situated at Room 9, Trades Hall, 126 Vivian Street, Wellington, will, unless cause to the contrary is shown, be cancelled on the expiration of 6 weeks from the date of the publication of this notice in the Gazette.

Industrial Relations Act 1973—Cancellation of Registration of Industrial Union

Pursuant to section 193 of the Industrial Relations Act 1973, it is hereby notified that the registration of the Otago Trustees Companies Employees Industrial Union of Workers, Registered No. 2212, situated at 399 Moray Place, Dunedin, is hereby cancelled as from the date of the publication of this notice in the Gazette.

Fees Payable by Private Overseas Students

The Minister of Education hereby gives notice that the Government intends to charge private overseas students, who commence a tertiary course in 1980, a tuition fee of $1,500 a year.

There will be exemptions for certain overseas students and lesser rates payable by part-time students.

Administrative circulars are being issued to the tertiary institutions giving details of the scheme.

Monthly Returns by Wholesalers and Manufacturing Retailers Under the Sales Tax Act 1974

Pursuant to section 29 (1) of the Sales Tax Act 1974 as amended by section 19 of the Customs Amendment Act (No. 2) 1979, notice is hereby given that monthly returns as required by this section are to be delivered to the Collector of Customs, Private Bag, Palmerston North.

Returns by International Travel Vendors Under the International Departure Tax Act 1979

Pursuant to section 14 (1) of the International Departure Tax Act 1979, notice is hereby given that returns as required by this section are to be delivered to the Collector of Customs, Private Bag, Palmerston North.

New Zealand-Australia Free Trade Agreement

Application for the Approval of Goods as Determined Imported Materials—Notice 1980/1

Notice is hereby given that application has been made to Australia for the approval of the goods, described in the Schedule hereto, as determined imported materials in accordance with Australian legislation relating to the rules governing the origin of goods "wholly manufactured".

Any person wishing to lodge an objection to New Zealand supporting these applications should do so in writing on or before 14 February 1980. Submissions should include a reference to the application number, tariff item, and description of the goods concerned, be addressed to the Comptroller of Customs, Private Bag, Wellington, for the attention of the Director Trade Division, and be supported by information as to the quality, range, supply, etc., of the goods or suitable alternative goods produced in New Zealand.
