The Traffic (Waihemo County) Notice No. 1, 1979

PURSUANT to the Transport Act 1962, the Minister of Transport hereby gives the following notice.

NOTICE

  1. This notice may be cited as the Traffic (Waihemo County) Notice No. 1, 1979.

  2. The roads specified in the First Schedule hereto are hereby declared to be closely populated localities pursuant to section 52 of the Transport Act 1962.

  3. The road specified in the Second Schedule hereto is hereby declared to be a 70 kilometres-an-hour speed limit area pursuant to regulation 21 (2) of the Traffic Regulations 1976*.

  4. The Traffic (Waihemo County) Notice No. 1, 1973, dated the 6th day of September 1973†, issued pursuant to section 52 of the Transport Act 1962 and regulation 27 of the Traffic Regulations 1956, which relates to roads situated within Waihemo County at Palmerston, is hereby revoked.

FIRST SCHEDULE

SITUATED within Waihemo County at Palmerston:

No. 1 State Highway (Awanui-Bluff): from a point 420 metres measured north-easterly, generally, along the said State highway from Stour Street to a point 540 metres measured south-westerly, generally, along the said State highway from Thomas Street.

No. 85 State Highway (Palmerston-Alexandra): from the No. 1 State Highway (Awanui-Bluff) to a point 20 metres measured north-westerly, generally, along the No. 85 State Highway (Palmerston-Alexandra) from Brough Street.

Birsia Street: from the No. 85 State Highway (Palmerston-Alexandra) to Burranses Street.

Brough Street: from Stour Street to Gilligan Street.

Appointment of Plant Varieties Office and Its Hours of Business (No. 2225, P.V. 1/1)

PURSUANT to section 5 of the Plant Varieties Act 1973, notice is hereby given that, from the 6th day of August 1979:

  1. The appointed place of the Plant Varieties Office is Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Ellesmere Junction Road, Lincoln, Canterbury.

  2. The Plant Varieties Office shall be open for the transaction of public business from Monday to Friday inclusive during the hours between 9 a.m. and noon, and 1 p.m. and 3.30 p.m., except that the Plant Varieties Office shall be closed on the following days—

(a) The holiday observed in Canterbury as Anniversary Day, the 10th day of November;

(b) New Zealand Day, the 6th day of February, when this falls on a weekday;

(c) Good Friday to Easter Tuesday inclusive;

(d) Anzac Day, the 25th day of April, when this falls on a weekday;

(e) The holiday observed as the Sovereign’s birthday (usually the first Monday in June);

(f) Labour Day, the fourth Monday in October;

(g) The days from the 24th day of December, or if this day falls on a Saturday or a Sunday, the preceding Friday, to

(i) the 3rd day of January in any year when New Year’s Day falls on a Monday or Tuesday; or

(ii) the 5th day of January in any year when New Year’s Day falls on a Wednesday, a Thursday, a Friday or a Saturday.
  1. This notice replaces notice No. 2152 of the 11th day of May 1979, notified in the Gazette on the 24th day of May 1979, No. 43, page 1608.
