Consent to the Generation of Electricity by the Egmont Electric Power Board by the Use of Water
PURSUANT to section 25 of the Electricity Act 1968, the Minister of Energy consents to the generation of electricity by the Egmont Electric Power Board.
CONDITIONS

The conditions directed by the Water Power Regulations 1934, to be implied in every licence to use water for the purpose of generation or storing electricity, shall be deemed to be conditions of this consent as if it were such a licence.

This consent is subject to compliance with the Water Power Regulations 1934, the Electrical Supply Regulations 1976, the Electrical Wiring Regulations 1976, the Radio Interference Regulations 1958, and all regulations hereafter made in amendment or in substitution for any of those regulations, as if in the case of the Water Power Regulations 1934 it were a licence under the Public Works Act 1928 to use water for the purpose of generating electricity, as well as a consent under the Electricity Act 1968, to generate electricity by the use of water.

The generation of electricity by the use of water, pursuant to this consent, shall be carried out by means of the works described in the Schedule hereto.

This consent is granted subject to prior compliance with the Water and Soil Conservation Act 1967.

This consent shall come into force on the 1st day of May 1979 and shall continue in force for a period of 21 years from that date unless it is sooner lawfully determined.

The station shall be operated to supply the normal electricity demand of the Egmont Electric Power Board and to conform reasonably to the pattern of the supply authority’s daily load curve.

For the purpose of assessing in accordance with the Water Power Regulations 1934, the rental or annual sum payable in respect of this consent, the maximum generating capacity of the scheme shall be assessed at 30.7 MW.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORKS

Headworks consisting of a dam and intake giving a static head of approximately 63 metres, situated on the Patea River at a point in Section 7, Block II, Opaku Survey District and Section 7, Block VI, Opaku Survey District.

Pipelines leading from the intake aforesaid to the powerhouse hereinafter referred to.

Powerhouse with water turbines and all necessary equipment for generating electricity having a maximum capacity of 30.7 MW the powerhouse being situated as aforesaid.

Tailrace leading from the powerhouse aforesaid to the said river.
All as indicated on the plan marked NZE 989 deposited in the office of the Electricity Division of the Ministry of Energy at Wellington.
