Defining Harbour Limits of the Harbour of Thames

ORDER IN COUNCIL

At Government House at Wellington this 17th day of July 1978.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to section 3 of the Harbours Act 1950, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of His Executive Council, hereby defines the limits of the Harbour of Thames as set out in the Schedule to this Order. The Order in Council made on 17 November 1936, defining the limits of the Harbour of Thames, is hereby revoked.

SCHEDULE

ALL that area of the sea and tidal water bounded towards the west and north by an arc of the circle having a radius of 5 nautical miles from the point of intersection at or near Opani Point, of a line bearing 242° 12 minutes true from trig station 92 (Pukeoraka or Gentle Annic) with another line bearing 330° 45 minutes true from trig station Turua No. 2, from ordinary high water mark of the Firth of Thames, near the western boundary line of Block X, Waihou Survey District, to ordinary high water mark of the Firth of Thames near Puatamaru Rock; thence towards the south-east, generally, by ordinary high water mark of the Firth of Thames and of the Kauaeranga River to the railway bridge across the said river; thence by the said railway bridge to the southern bank of the Kauaeranga River aforesaid; thence towards the north-west, generally, by ordinary high water mark of the Kauaeranga River aforesaid to the Firth of Thames; thence again towards the south-east, generally, by ordinary high water mark of the Firth of Thames, and of the Waihou or Thames River to a point where the boundary line between Te Kopua Block (M.L. 54/09), and Makakarahi Block (M.L. 5410) touches the said river; thence towards the south-west by a line in prolongation to the aforesaid boundary line across the Waihou or Thames River; thence again towards the north-west, generally, by ordinary high water mark of the said Waihou or Thames River to Opani Point; thence again towards the south-west, generally, by ordinary high water mark of the Firth of Thames and of the Piako River to the Pipiroa Bridge across the said river; thence by the said bridge to the western bank of the Piako River; thence towards the north-east, generally, by ordinary high water mark of the Piako River aforesaid to the Firth of Thames; thence towards the south-west, generally, by ordinary high water mark to the starting point; the hereinbefore mentioned line of ordinary highwater mark shall be deemed to cross the mouths of any tributaries of the Thames or Waihou River. The hereinbefore described limits are more particularly shown on plan marked M.D. 15907, and deposited in the office of the Ministry of Transport at Wellington.

Directing the Sale of Land in the City of Whangarei

At the Government House at Wellington this 26th day of June 1978.

PURSUANT to the Public Works Act 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby directs the sale of the land described in the Schedule hereto, such land being no longer required for the purpose for which it was acquired.

ALL those pieces of land, situated in the City of Whangarei, described as follows:

Authorising the Reclamation of Land from the Tamaki River

At the Government House at Wellington this 10th day of July 1978

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to section 175 (2) of the Harbours Act 1950, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby authorises the Manukau City Council to reclaim 470 square metres of land from the bed of the Tamaki River, Waitemata Harbour, as shown on plan MD (N). 495, and deposited in the office of the Ministry of Transport at Auckland. The land so reclaimed is to vest in the Manukau City Council as esplanade reserve.

Exempting Maori Land from Rates

At the Government House at Wellington this 17th day of July 1978

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to section 149 of the Rating Act 1967, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby exempts the Maori freehold land, described in the Schedule hereto, from the liability for the payment of rates for a period of 5 years from the 22nd day of May 1977.

PURSUANT to section 20 (2) of the Tourist Hotel Corporation Act 1974, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby declares that the land in the Urewera National Park described in the Schedule hereto, having been set apart to be administered by the Tourist Hotel Corporation of New Zealand by Order in Council, dated 4th day of September 1957, and published in New Zealand Gazette, No. 66, 12 September 1957, at
