GISBORNE LAND DISTRICT—WAIRoa COUNTY

ALL that area containing 32.37 hectares, more or less, being part Taramarama Block, situated in Blocks XVIII and XIX, Waikaremoana Survey District, being all the land lying between the shore of Lake Waikaremoana and State Highway No. 38, extending approximately 885 metres north-east, and 1106 metres south-west from Lake House. As shown marked ‘A’ on S.O. Plan 6785.

Also all that area containing 10.36 hectares, more or less, being part Taramarama Block, situated in Block XIX, Waikaremoana Survey District, being a strip of land 10.06 metres wide on each side of the power line to Lake House where it passes through Urewera National Park, and where it is not included in the area hereinbefore described. As shown marked ‘B’ on S.O. Plan 6785.

Also all that area containing 2023 square metres, more or less, being part Taramarama Block, situated in Blocks XVIII and XIX, Waikaremoana Survey District, being a strip of land 3.05 metres wide on each side of the water supply pipelines to the Lake House, and including the dam intake, storage tanks, and fire fighting storage reservoir where the same is not included in the two areas hereinbefore described. As shown marked ‘C’ ‘D’ and ‘E’ on S.O. Plan 6785.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to section 10 (6) of the National Parks Act 1952, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby declares that the land in the Urewera National Park, described in the Schedule hereto, having been set apart to be administered under the provisions of the Tourist and Health Resorts Control Act 1908 by Order in Council, dated 21st day of March 1956, and published in New Zealand Gazette, No. 17, 22 March 1956, at p. 380, ceased to be administered under the provisions of that Act as from the 1st day of October 1977.

Appointments, Promotions, Extensions, Transfers, Resignations, and Retirements of Officers of the Royal New Zealand Navy

PURSUANT to section 35 of the Defence Act 1971, His Excellency the Governor-General has approved the following appointments, promotions, extensions, transfers, resignations, and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Naval Forces.

ROYAL NEW ZEALAND NAVY

Commander John Joseph Maire, M.B.E., is transferred to the Reserve of Naval Officers until 24 February 1980, with effect from 25 February 1978.

The appointments of the following Lieutenant-Commanders are extended to the dates shown:

B. Craig, C.ENG., M.I.E.R.E., 19 July 1984.

L. H. Carter, 10 June 1983.

The following are placed on the Retired List with effect from the dates shown:

Lieutenant-Commander Victor William Fifield, M.B.E., 2 April 1978.

The appointments of the following Chaplains are extended to the dates shown:

Lieutenant Shelley Edward Yates is transferred to the Reserve of Naval Officers until 14 April 1982, with effect from 15 April 1978.

Instructor Lieutenant Nicholas Graham Flegg, B.SC., is transferred to the Reserve of Naval Officers until 28 March 1982, with effect from 23 May 1982, with effect from 24 May 1978.

Lieutenant K. A. McGrath: with reference to the notice published in the Gazette, 13 April 1978, No. 29, p. 1070, for “1 May 1978” substitute “10 January 1980”.

Lieutenant Philip Anthony Vernon Briars is transferred to the Reserve of Naval Officers until 16 April 1982, with effect from 17 April 1978.

Arthur Terrence Golds is re-appointed to the RNZN in the rank of Lieutenant, with seniority from 19 October 1976 and effect from 24 May 1978; terminating 19 March 1983.

Bernard James Healy is re-appointed to the RNZN in the rank of Sub-Lieutenant, with seniority from 1 December 1976 and effect from 29 May 1978; terminating 11 August 1996.

The following Ensigns (acting Sub-Lieutenants) to be temp. Sub-Lieutenants, with effect from 7 January 1978:

The appointment of Captain T. A. Cooper, O.B.E., V.R.D., is extended to 30 June 1979.

The appointment of Surgeon Commander G. L. Smith, V.R.D., B.D.S., is extended to 15 December 1979.

Lieutenant-Commander Neil Graham Ritchie, V.R.D., S.D.O. (NZ); the notice published in the Gazette, 13 April 1978, No. 29, p. 1070, is cancelled and the following substituted: “The appointment of Lieutenant-Commander N. G. Ritchie, V.R.D., S.D.O. (NZ), is extended to 2 March 1979.”
