KOMATA RIDING

ALL that area of land in the South Auckland Land District, Ohinemuri County, commencing at the confluence of the Waihou and Hikutaia Rivers in Block VIII, Waihou Survey District, and proceeding generally up the middle of the last-mentioned river and the middle of the Waipaheke Stream to the source of the said stream; thence easterly along a right line between the said source to a point on a dividing range near Trig Ngapuketura (89); thence in a south-westerly direction generally along this dividing range, through Trig Ngapuketura (89) to the northernmost corner of Section 6, Block VI, Ohinemuri Survey District; thence along the western boundary of State Forest, New Zealand Gazette, 1935, page 2736, the northern, western, and again the northern boundaries of Section 15, Block VI, Ohinemuri Survey District, to Maratoto Road; thence by a right line across this road to and along the Waitekauri Stream, the northern and western boundaries of Section 15, Block X, Ohinemuri Survey District, the northern and western boundaries of Section 19, Block X aforesaid, to a point in the north-eastern boundary of Section 13, Block X, Ohinemuri Survey District; thence in a westerly direction generally along the northern and north-western boundaries of Section 13 aforesaid, to a public road; thence along the north-western side of this road to the Komata River; thence to and along the middle of this river to its confluence with the Waihou River; thence in a northerly direction generally along the middle of the Waihou River to its confluence with the Hikutaia River, the point of commencement.

In pursuance of a resolution passed at an ordinary meeting of the Ohinemuri County Council, held in the Council Chambers, Belmont Road, Paeroa, on the 11th day of May 1977, the Common Seal of the Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the County of Ohinemuri was hereto affixed in the presence of:

I, Lyall John Winter, Acting County Clerk of the Ohinemuri County Council, do hereby certify that the Special Order altering the boundaries of the Komata, Paeroa, Waihi, and Waihi Beach Ridings was made at a special meeting of the said council, held for that purpose in the Council Chambers, Belmont Road, Paeroa, on the 13th day of April 1977 and confirmed, sealed, and signed at the ordinary meeting of the said council, held on the 11th day of May 1977, and that the said Special Order was duly made in conformity with the requirements of the Counties Act 1956 and the amendments thereto.

Special Order Made by Thames-Coromandel District Council Altering Ward Boundaries and Representation


PURSUANT to section 88 of the Counties Act 1956, the Secretary for Local Government hereby publishes the following Special Order made by the Thames-Coromandel District Council.

SPECIAL ORDER

THAT pursuant to the provisions of the final scheme of the Local Government Commission for the union into one district of the districts of Thames Borough, Thames County, and Coromandel County, and in exercise of the powers conferred on it by sections 23 and 35 of the Counties Act 1956, the Thames-Coromandel District Council resolves by way of Special Order as follows:

  1. The present partition of the Thames and Coromandel divisions of the Thames-Coromandel District into five wards each shall be revoked and in lieu thereof the said divisions shall be divided into four wards each to be called respectively Hastings ward, Puriri ward, Whangamata ward, and Tairua ward (Thames division) and Coromandel ward, Whitianga ward, Mercury Bay ward, and Whenuakite ward (Coromandel division), which said wards are respectively described in the Schedule hereto.

  2. The said Thames-Coromandel District Council shall consist of twelve members who shall be elected as follows:
    (1) Thames division: the electors of the Hastings ward, the Puriri ward, the Whangamata ward, and the Tairua ward shall each elect one councillor.
    (2) Coromandel division: the electors of the Coromandel ward, the Whitianga ward, the Mercury Bay ward, and the Whenuakite ward shall elect one councillor.
    (3) Urban division: the electors of the urban division shall elect four councillors.

  3. The alteration hereby made shall take effect on and after the 8th day of October 1977.

SCHEDULE

COROMANDEL DIVISION—COROMANDEL WARD

ALL that area in the South Auckland Land District, Thames-Coromandel District, bounded by a line commencing at the middle of the mouth of the Waikawau River in Block VI, Hastings Survey District, and proceeding generally northerly, generally easterly, and generally southerly along the mean high-water mark of the sea coast to the easternmost corner of Harataunga 2D Block in Block X, Harataunga Survey District; thence generally south-westerly along right-lines to Trig RR, Trig PP, both trigs situated in Block II, Coromandel Survey District, and to the intersection of the eastern boundary of Karaka No. 1 Block and the northern side of State Highway No. 25; thence generally southerly across that highway to and along the eastern boundary of Pukemaukuku Block, the eastern boundaries of Sections 10 and 9, Block VI, Coromandel Survey District, the eastern boundaries of Waiau 1B Block, Motutere A Block, again Motutere B Block, Purunui Block, Sections 3, 4, and 5, Block XI, Coromandel Survey District, to the easternmost corner of the said Section 5; thence generally south-westerly along the south-eastern boundary of the aforesaid Section 5 to the northernmost corner of Section 7, Block XV, Coromandel Survey District; thence south-easterly along the south-western boundary of Section 8, Block XV, Coromandel Survey District, to the roadside angle north-east of an old road-traverse mark numbered XVII on S.O. 18257; thence generally south-westerly along a right-line to the roadside angle opposite that aforementioned; thence generally south-westerly along the generally eastern boundary of Section 7, Block XV, Coromandel Survey District, to the northern side of a public road; thence due southerly along a right line to its intersection with a right-line between the easternmost point of Section 1, Block VII, Hastings Survey District, and the southernmost point of Section 20, Block IV, Whitianga Survey District; thence westerly along the last-mentioned right-line to the middle of the Waikawau River; thence generally south-westerly down the middle of that river to the point of commencement; comprising also the islands of Wekarua, Rangipukea, Whanganui, Motutapere, Waimata, Motuopake, Motuoruhi (Goat), Nganotukaraka (Three Kings), Moturua (Rabbit), Motukaramarama (Bush), Motuwi (Double), Motukahaua (Happy Jack), Channel, Square Top, Motukokopu, Great Mercury (Ahuaahu), Double, Red Mercury (Whakahau), Middle, Kawatihu (Stanley), and Korapuki.


MERCURY BAY WARD

ALL that area in the South Auckland Land District, Thames-Coromandel District, bounded by a line commencing at the easternmost corner of Harataunga 2D Block in Block X, Harataunga Survey District; thence generally easterly, generally southerly, and generally south-westerly along the mean high-water mark of the sea coast to the south-western corner of Kuaotunu 3B Block in Block VIII, Otama Survey District; thence generally north-westerly along the western boundary of the said block, the northern boundary of Lot 5, D.P. S. 5198, and the last-mentioned boundary produced to the middle of State Highway 25; thence north-easterly along the middle of that highway to the middle of the Akeake Stream; thence generally westerly up the middle of that stream to a point in line with the northern boundary of part Lot 3, D.P. S. 2951; thence easterly along the said northern boundary to the northernmost corner of that Lot; thence generally westerly along a right line between the said point and the north-eastern corner of part Section 5, Block VII, Otama Survey District; thence generally westerly along the generally northern boundaries of the aforesaid Section 5, part Section 3, Block VII, Otama Survey District, and part
