  1. Class J

  2. Minimum loads of goods chargeable at Class J will be as follows:

*Box type wagons will not be supplied for green and unprocessed hides and skins.
  1. Minimum Charge--Except where otherwise specified any less quantity than the minimum prescribed will be charged at such minimum or on actual weight at Class D whichever is cheaper.

  2. Handling--The department may require all loading or unloading to be performed by owners. Where loading or unloading is performed by the department the charges as prescribed in section 122 will apply.

  3. Tallying--The department will not undertake to tally goods consigned under the provisions of this section.

*Un wagons may be supplied in lieu of UB, Ur, or Us wagons but orders for Un wagons to convey timber will not be accepted.

  1. Small lots--Except where otherwise specified the charge for any quantity less than the wagon minimum prescribed will be based on such minimum or on actual quantity subject to a minimum of 0.25 m³--at the following scale if cheaper:

  1. Small lots of timber under 0.25 m³ may be charged on actual weight at Class C if cheaper than the charge for timber in small lots.

  2. Less Than Minimum Loads--(a) Where a consignment of timber is loaded on a bogie wagon and the quantity is less than the prescribed minimum load for the class of wagon used, the charges will be based on such minimum or, if cheaper, on the actual quantity of timber at the small lots scale plus the charge for one check wagon.

(b) Where a consignment of timber loaded on a bogie wagon also requires a four-wheeled check wagon, charges will be based on the minimum load for one bogie plus the charge for one check wagon or, if cheaper, on the actual quantity at the small lots scale, plus the charge for two check wagons.

  1. (a) Any deficiency in quantity required to make up the prescribed minimum referred to in paragraphs 2 or 4 is to be charged at Class K single rate.

(b) Separate consignments of timber loaded in the same wagon from one consignor to various consignees at the same destination station may be grouped for the purpose of calculating the minimum load as provided in paragraph 1 hereof. Where the total quantity so loaded is less than the prescribed minimum the deficiency in measurement will be shared proportionately by each consignment.
