- Computation of measurement—(a) Except where otherwise specified, the length of
timber will be measured in multiples of 10 cm, fractional amounts less than 10 cm will be
omitted.
(b) Except where otherwise provided, the total volume will be calculated exactly, prior
to rounding off for charging purposes.
- Timber shorts—i.e., pieces not exceeding 2 m in length—will be charged on measurement
at Class K rate or vide paragraph 2 hereof, except where timber shorts for the purposes
specified in section 68 are classified at tonne rates.
Where the actual weight of timber shorts (chargeable on weight) and shooks cannot be
determined by weighing, the weight may be computed on the basis of one cubic metre to the
tonne.
-
Sawn timber in pieces not exceeding 2 m in length will, except where otherwise provided,
be charged on actual length. -
Unless otherwise specified, in computing the sizes of sawn timber, whether dressed or
undressed, fractional parts less than 1 mm in width or thickness will be reckoned as 1 mm. -
In computing the charges for timber, the total cubic measurement will be calculated
to two decimal places; lesser decimal fractions will be ignored. -
In computing the measurement of rusticated weatherboards, tongued-and-grooved
flooring and lining boards, and all other boards of irregular width and thickness, the full
over-all measurement will be charged for—i.e., the board will be taken to measure as if its
greatest width and thickness were uniform throughout the entire width and thickness of the
board. -
The cubic measurement of round timber, will be computed according to the Railways
Table of Metric Volumes for Round Timber, 1976: (length measurement will be in multiples of
10 centimetres, fractional amounts less than 10 centimetres will be omitted). The total cubic
measurement will be calculated to two decimal places. -
The department will not undertake to measure or tally timber.
-
Handling—The department may require all loading or unloading to be performed by
owners.
For each loading or unloading by the department, the following charges will be made:
(a) Each loading or unloading (without cranage)
$3.50 per m³
(minimum charge $1.00).
(b) Where the department’s lifting appliances are used:
(i) Loose timber
.. $1.35 per m³
(minimum charge $1.35).

lots scale for timber, section 75, whichever cheaper. -

decimal places; lesser decimal fractions will be ignored. -
