Boundaries of County of Ashburton and Borough of
Ashburton Altered

Present:
THE HON. H. WATT PRESIDING IN COUNCIL
PURSUANT to the Local Government Commission Act 1967,
His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with
the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby
makes the following order.
ORDER
1.On and from the 1st day of April 1974, the areas
described in the Schedule hereto are hereby excluded from
the County of Ashburton and included in the Borough of
Ashburton.
2. The alteration of the boundaries of the said county and
the said borough hereinbefore made shall be deemed to
have been effected under the Municipal Corporations Act
1954.
SCHEDULE
FIRSTLY all that area in the Canterbury Land District,
Ashburton County, Block XIII, Ashburton Survey District,
and Block XVI, Westerfield Survey District, containing
160.0 hectares, more or less, bounded by a line commencing
at a point in the middle of the Ashburton River 20 metres
north-west of the north-western side of the No. 1 State
Highway traffic bridge over that river and proceeding north-
easterly along a line parallel to that bridge to the eastern
boundary of Reserve 1923; thence northerly generally along
that boundary, the south-eastern boundaries of Reserves 4605
and 4073, the eastern boundaries of Reserves 4357, 4966,
1923, and 4605, the south-western boundaries of Lots 1, 2,
3, and 4, D.P. 2774, the southern and western boundaries
of Rural Section 23417, and the western boundaries of Rural
Sections 19311 and 20864 to the north-western boundary
of Lot 1, D.P. 26016; thence south-westerly along that
boundary, along a right line to the northernmost corner
of Rural Section 6504 and continuing south-westerly along
the north-western boundary of that rural section and its
production to the middle of the Ashburton River (South
Branch); thence south-easterly generally down the middle
of that river and the middle of the Ashburton River to the
point of commencement.
Secondly all that area in the Canterbury Land District,
Ashburton County, Block XIII, Ashburton Survey District,
containing 12.6000 hectares, more or less, bounded by a
line commencing at the northernmost corner of Reserve 2668
and proceeding south-easterly generally along the north-
eastern boundary of that reserve to the north-western side
of Chalmers Avenue and continuing south-easterly across
that avenue along the original left bank of the Ashburton
River to the south-eastern side of Chalmers Avenue; thence
south-westerly along that roadside to the south-eastern corner
of Reserve 3905; thence north-westerly generally along the
north-eastern boundary of that reserve to the point of
commencement.

PURSUANT to the Local Government Commission Act 1967,
His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with
the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes
the following order.
ORDER

  1. This order shall come into force on the 1st day of
    April 1974.
  2. The area described in the Schedule hereto being the
    area of the Abbotsford County Town, shall be excluded
    from the district of Taieri County and included in the district
    of Green Island Borough.
    SCHEDULE
    All that area in the Otago Land District, Taieri County,
    Kaikorai Riding, containing 112 acres, more or less, bounded
    by a line commencing at the westernmost corner of the
    land shown on D.P. 2880 in Block VII, Dunedin and East
    Taieri Survey District, and proceeding north-easterly and
    south-easterly along the north-western and north-eastern
    boundaries of the land on that D.P. 2880 to the south-western
    side of North Taieri Road; thence north-westerly along the
    south-western side of that road to the south-western corner
    of Section 82, Block VII, Dunedin and East Taieri Survey
    District; thence north-easterly along the north-western
    boundary of that road to its northernmost corner; thence
    south-easterly along the north-eastern side of that road to
    a point on the production of the line parallel to, northerly
    of, and one chain distant from the northern boundary
    of Lot 13, D.P. 8956; thence along that line bearing 77Β° 43'
    to the left bank of Abbots Creek; thence south-easterly
    along a right line to the southernmost corner of Section 31,
    Block VI, Dunedin and East Taieri Survey District; thence
    easterly across the half angle in McMeakin Road to the
    eastern side; thence southerly along the eastern side of that
    road and its production to the south side of Abbots Hill
    Road; thence generally south-westerly along the south-eastern
    side of that road to the north-western corner of Lot 2,
    D.P. 5889; thence southerly along the western boundary of
    the said Lot 2 to its southernmost corner; thence south-
    westerly along a right line to a point on the north-western
    boundary of Lot 45, D.P. 2103, distant 210 links north-easterly
    from the westernmost corner of the said Lot 45; thence
    south-westerly along the north-western boundaries of the
    said Lot 45, Alexander Street, Lots 16 and 15, D.P. 2103,
    and the production of the north-western boundary of the
    said Lot 15 to the south-western side of North Taieri Road;
    thence north-westerly along the south-western side of that
    road to its junction with the eastern side of a railway
    reserve; thence southerly along the eastern side of that
    reserve to peg 24A as shown on S.O. plan 15465; thence
    south-easterly along a right line to the westernmost corner
    of Lot 1, D.P. 4427; thence again south-easterly along the
    south-western boundaries of Lots 1, 2, 3, and 4, D.P. 4427
