(b) This notice shall come into force on the date of
its publication in the Gazette.

The employees of the Manawatu Catchment Board shall be
exempted from regulation 11 (a-c) of the Motor Launch
Regulations 1962 when engaged on jet boat inspections of
the Manawatu River and its tributaries in the course of the
Board's official duties.

The Hawke’s Bay Technical Institute Notice 1973

PURSUANT to section 69 of the Education Act 1964, the
Minister of Education hereby gives the following notice.

NOTICE

  1. (1) This notice may be cited as the Hawke’s Bay
    Technical Institute Notice 1973.
    (2) This notice shall come into force on the day after
    the date of its publication in the Gazette.

  2. There shall be a Board of Governors for the Hawke’s
    Bay Technical Institute which shall be known as the Hawke’s
    Bay Technical Institute Council and which shall be constituted
    as follows:
    (a) One member appointed by the Hawke’s Bay Branch
    of the New Zealand Society of Accountants;
    (b) One member appointed by the Hawke’s Bay Branch
    of the New Zealand Institution of Engineers;
    (c) Two members elected in accordance with the provisions
    of this notice, by the governing bodies of the schools
    specified in the Schedule to this notice;
    (d) One member appointed jointly by the Napier City
    Council, the Hastings City Council, the Hawke’s
    Bay County Council, and the Havelock North
    Borough Council;
    (e) One member appointed by the Federated Farmers of
    New Zealand Incorporated (Hawke’s Bay Provincial
    District);
    (f) Two members appointed by the Hawke’s Bay Branch
    of the Wellington Employers’ Association;
    (g) Two members appointed by the Hawke’s Bay Trades
    Council;
    (h) Three members co-opted by the Council itself, if and
    when it thinks fit.

  3. For the purpose of paragraph (c) of clause 2 of this
    notice each governing body shall be entitled to one vote
    for each 100 pupils or part of 100 pupils enrolled at the
    school or schools under its control on the first day of March
    in the year of the election.

  4. (1) Subject to the provisions of this clause, the members
    of the Hawke’s Bay Technical Institute Board of Governors
    shall hold office for a term of three years, but may from
    time to time be re-appointed or re-elected.
    (2) Except in the case of a casual vacancy, every member
    shall hold office until the 31st day of May in the third year
    after the year of his appointment or election, and if on
    the 31st day of May the appointment or election of his
    successor has not been notified to the Board, he shall continue
    to hold office until the date on which the appointment or
    election is notified.
    (3) If any member dies, or resigns his office by writing
    under his hand addressed to the Board or the chairman
    or the secretary thereof, or is absent without leave from
    the meetings of the Board for three consecutive months,
    or while holding office becomes for any reason ineligible
    to remain a member, the casual vacancy so created shall
    be filled as soon as practicable thereafter by the appoint-
    ment or election of a member in the manner in which the
    vacating member was appointed or elected, and the member
    appointed or elected to fill the vacancy shall hold office
    for the residue of the term of office of the member whom
    he replaces.
    (4) The powers of the Board shall not be affected by
    any vacancy in the membership thereof.

Declaring Land Taken for Railway Purposes (Kawakawa-
Grahamtown Railway) at Onerahi and Not Now Required
for That Purpose to be Crown Land

PURSUANT to section 35 of the Public Works Act 1928, the
Minister of Railways hereby declares the land described in
the Schedule hereto, to be Crown land, subject to the Land
Act 1948, as from the 21st day of December 1973.
