Special Order Made by Great Barrier Island County Council Altering Riding Boundaries

PURSUANT to section 88 of the Counties Act 1956, the Secretary for Local Government hereby publishes the following Special Order made by the Great Barrier Island County Council.

SPECIAL ORDER

A special order made by the Great Barrier Island County Council at a meeting of the Council held on the 10th day of November 1972 and after being publicly notified confirmed at a subsequent meeting of the Council held on the 12th day of January 1973, namely:

That in exercise of its powers under section 23 of the Counties Act 1956 the Great Barrier Island County Council resolves by way of special order as follows:

(1) That the present division of the County of Great Barrier Island into two ridings is revoked and in lieu thereof the said County shall be divided into three ridings, to be called respectively North Riding, Central Riding, and South Riding, which said ridings are respectively described in the Schedule attached hereto. The North Riding remaining as it was. The South Riding being severed in two to make three ridings in all.

(2) This change to take effect on the 1st day of January 1974 and that there be three councillors for each riding.

SCHEDULE

NORTH RIDING

ALL that area as defined in the New Zealand Gazette, 1915, p. 3371.


CENTRAL RIDING

ALL that area in the North Auckland Land District, Great Barrier Island County, bounded by a line commencing at the junction of the north-eastern boundary of Lot 20, D.P. 24139, with the right bank of the Oruawharo River, in Block IV, Tryphena Survey District, and proceeding south-easterly and then south-westerly generally along the boundary of the southern portion of the South Riding hereinafter described, to the junction of the northern boundary of Allotment S.E. 117, Aotea Parish, with the line of mean high water of the Hauraki Gulf in Block VIII, Fitzroy Survey District; thence north-westerly generally along the said line of mean high water, to the north-western boundary of Allotment 163, in Block V, Fitzroy Survey District; thence north-easterly along the said north-western boundary and south-easterly along the north-eastern boundaries of Allotments 163 and 162, to and north-easterly along the north-western boundary of Allotment 160, to the south-western boundary of Allotment 187; thence south-easterly along the said south-western boundary, to and north-easterly along the south-eastern boundaries of Allotments 187, the intervening 251 and part 2, to the easternmost corner of the said Part Allotment 2, in Block VI, Fitzroy Survey District; thence north-easterly along a right line, to the southernmost corner of Part Allotment 181, and northerly along the western boundary of the said part Allotment 181, to and easterly along the northern boundary of Allotment 188, to and northerly along the western end of the public road forming the northern boundaries of the said Allotment 188, and that boundary produced to the middle of the Awana Stream, in Block III, Fitzroy Survey District; thence easterly down the middle of the said Awana Stream, to its intersection with the middle of the public road forming the western boundary of Lot 4, D.P. 22180, in Block I, Tryphena Survey District; thence northerly along the middle of that road and the public road forming the western boundaries of Allotment 176, to a point in line with the northern boundary of that allotment; thence easterly, to and along that northern boundary and that boundary produced to the eastern side of the Fitzroy Harataonga Road; thence northerly along that western side, to and south-easterly along the north-eastern boundary of Allotment 176A, all the aforesaid allotments being of Aotea Parish, and that boundary produced to the line of mean high water of the South Pacific Ocean in Block I, aforesaid; thence southerly generally along that line of mean high water to the point of commencement.


SOUTH RIDING

ALL that area in the North Auckland Land District, Great Barrier Island County, bounded by a line commencing at the junction of the northern boundary of Allotment S.E. 117, Aotea Parish, with the line of mean high water of the Hauraki Gulf, in Block VIII, Fitzroy Survey District, and proceeding north-easterly along the said northern boundary, and that boundary produced to the middle of the public road forming the eastern boundary of the said Allotment S.E. 117; thence north-easterly along the middle of the road forming the generally northern boundaries of Allotments N.W. 115, N.W. 114, 107, W. 106, M. 106, E. 106, W. 105, and E. 105, to a point in line with the north-western boundary of Allotment S.E. 103; thence north-easterly, to and along the
