Appointment of Members of the Regional Transport Licensing Authority, Auckland

PURSUANT to section 120A of the Transport Act 1962 (as substituted by section 16 of the Transport Amendment Act 1971), the Minister of Transport hereby appoints as members of the Auckland Regional Transport Licensing Authority:

John Martin Foster, and
Edward Alick Whitlow (this appointment being made on the recommendation of the Auckland Regional Authority).

The term of appointment of both these members shall be 3 years from the date of the notification of this notice in the Gazette.

Appointment of Committee to Inquire into Transport Services in the Hauraki Gulf

1. Pursuant to section 5 of the Transport Act 1962, the Minister of Transport hereby appoints—

   MERVYN MILES NELSON CORNER, who shall be the Chairman;
   HAROLD HIRST INNES; and
   CAPTAIN FREDERICK PATRICK LADD, M.B.E.;

to be a committee to inquire into and make recommendations on the transport services in the Hauraki Gulf.

2. The committee shall be called the Hauraki Gulf Transport Improvement Committee.

3. The committee shall inquire into, and make recommendations to the Minister of Transport on the transport services provided in the Hauraki Gulf, having particular regard to the following matters:

   (a) The present and likely future needs for water-based and other transport services in the Hauraki Gulf:
   (b) Whether existing transport services are adequate to meet the present needs:
   (c) What improvements (if any) are required or will be required in the near future:
   (d) How these improvements may best be effected and financed:
   (e) Any other matters that the committee considers relevant.

4. The Committee is hereby authorised to—

   (a) Hold public meetings at which evidence can be presented:
   (b) Hold closed meetings at which evidence of a confidential nature can be heard:
   (c) Request reports and other information from Government departments and other interested parties.

5. (1) All meetings of the committee shall be held at such times and places as the committee or the Chairman from time to time appoints.

   (2) At any such meeting, in the absence of the Chairman a member appointed by the Chairman may act in his stead.

   (3) At any such meeting, 2 members of the committee shall constitute a quorum.

   (4) Subject to this clause, the committee may regulate its procedure in such manner as it thinks fit.

6. The Committee shall submit its report and recommendations to the Minister of Transport not later than the 30th day of June 1974.
