Subparagraph 1 (c) is hereby deleted and the following subparagraph is substituted therefor—

“(c) (i) All that area in the North Auckland Land District situated in the Whangarei County and described generally as follows:

“All that area situated in Hukerenui, Opuawhanga, Whangarei, and Purua Survey Districts, commencing at a point being the north-western corner of Section 11, Block IV, Hukerenui Survey District, and thence bounded by the northern boundary of the aforementioned Section 11, eastwards to the Taparahia Stream; thence southwards along the western boundary of the Taparahia Stream, to its junction with the Kaimamaku Stream in Block IV, Hukerenui Survey District, and southwards along the western boundary of the Kaimamaku Stream to Peach Orchard Road, and over a concrete bridge across the aforementioned stream to the Russell Whakapara Road in Block VIII, Hukerenui Survey District, southwards along the western side of the Russel Whakapara Road to the junction with Pigs Head Road; thence generally north-eastwards by the southern side of Pigs Head Road, Block XII, Hukerenui Survey District, to Opuawhanga; thence generally north-eastwards bounded by the southern side of Opuawhanga-Whananaki Road to Jubilee Road in Block IV, Opuawhanga Survey District; thence generally south-eastwards by the western side of Jubilee Road and Marua Matapouri Road in Blocks IV, VII, VIII, XII, and XIII, Opuawhanga Survey District, to Waipaipai; thence generally south-eastwards, south, and south-westwards along the western side of the Old Kaiatea Road through Block XIII, Opuawhanga Survey District, and Blocks III and II, Whangarei Survey District, to Kiripaka; thence generally south-westwards along the north side of Kiripaka-Whangarei Road to Cork Road in Block V, Whangarei Survey District; thence north-west along the east side of Cork Road to Vinegar Hill Road in Block V, Purua Survey District; thence generally north and north-west along the eastern side of Vinegar Hill Road to State Highway No. 1; thence generally north along the eastern side of State Highway No. 1 to Whakapara in Block XII, Hukerenui Survey District, and west and north along the east side of State Highway No. 1 to the junction of the Waiotu Block Road in Block XI, Hukerenui Survey District; thence north and westerly along the east side of Waiotu Block North Road to the south-west corner of part 4A1 Puhipuhi Block situated in Block VII, Hukerenui Survey District; thence generally north and east along the west side of the aforementioned Block 4A1 and the western boundary of Whangarei County as published in the New Zealand Gazette, 1960, p. 2003. to the point of commencement, being the north-western corner of Section 11, Block IV, Hukerenui Survey District.

“(ii) That part of the Land District of North Auckland situated generally south and east of the following line, namely, a line commencing at the mouth of the Waikato River and following generally north-eastwards along the northern boundary of Raglan County to a right line crossing the Waikato River at right angles to its course to the junction of its east bank with the south bank of the Mangatawhiri River; thence generally eastwards along the south bank of the last-mentioned river to State Highway No. 1, and thence following generally northwards along the western side of State Highway No. 1 to its intersection with the North Island Main Trunk Railway Line just south of Drury; thence generally north along the western side of the aforementioned railway line to the southern boundary of the Borough of Papakura; thence generally east, north, and then west along the boundary of the said borough to its intersection with the west side of Dominion Road; thence along the western side of the aforementioned road to the intersection with the Papakura-Clevedon Road; thence generally north-eastwards along the north-west side of the last-mentioned road to its intersection with Mullins Road; thence generally north-westwards along the western side of Mullins Road and of its continuation with Alfriston Road to Manurewa Road; thence eastwards along the northern side of Manurewa Road to Brookby School; thence generally north and north-westwards along the western side of the Brookby-Whitford Road to the Turanga Creek; and thence generally northwards along the east bank of the said creek to Tamaki Strait.”

NOTES

  1. This amendment comes into effect upon first publication in a newspaper circulating in the infected area constituted. Its purpose is to extend the previously declared “infected area”.

  2. It is an offence to remove plants or Christmas tree material (branches, etc.) out of the “infected area” if these are of exotic pine, Douglas fir, or larch species, and have not been treated as specified by an authorised forest officer.

  3. The Puhi Puhi and Glenbervie State Forests and the environs thereof described in subparagraph 1 (c) (i) in terms of the present amendment are now added to the “infected area”.

  4. The “infected area” is now generally the Puhi Puhi and Glenbervie Forests, and their environs, the large area lying between Auckland City and Wellington City, the area east of the main ranges between Wairoa and Takapau, also the Waimea County (excluding the old Murchison County), north-western Marlborough area west of Havelock, and Westland Land District north of Harihari.

  5. Inquiries should be addressed to the nearest Conservator of Forests.

The said amendment was published on the 24th, 27th, and 28th day of December 1971 in the following newspapers:

The New Zealand Herald
The Auckland Star

and was further published on the 27th, 28th, and 29th days of December 1971 in the newspaper

The Northern Advocate.

In terms of regulation 4 (2) (a) of the said regulations the said amendment came into force on the 24th day of December 1971.

NOTICE is hereby given that the land described in the Schedule hereto has been acquired, under the Forests Act 1949, as permanent State forest land.

Lot 1, D.P. 31712, being part Sections 374, 375, 376, 378, 379, 380, 797, 798, 799, 800, 801, Whareama District, situated in Block XVI, Mangapakeha Survey District, and Blocks VII and IX, Castlepoint Survey District; area 1620 acres, more or less: part certificate of title, Volume 320, folio 139, and part certificate of title, Volume 341, folio 134.

As shown on plan N. 159/3 deposited in the Head Office of the New Zealand Forest Service at Wellington.
