Poolburn-Auripo Road; thence south-westerly along the north-
western side of that road to the southernmost corner of
Section 2, Block V, Poolburn Survey District; thence south-
westerly along the south-eastern boundary of Run 244B,
Block V, aforesaid, and its production across Poolburn-Auripo
Road and again along the south-eastern boundary of Run
244B, aforesaid, to the southernmost corner of that run; thence
north-westerly and south-westerly along the north-eastern and
north-western boundary of Block XI, and the north-western
boundary of Block X, Poolburn Survey District, and Block V,
Tiger Hill Survey District, to a point in line with the south-
western side of the Ophir-Moa Creek Road; thence north-
westerly to and along the south-western side of that road to
the south-western side of the Ida Valley-Omakau Road;
thence generally westerly along the generally southern side
of that road to the easternmost corner of Section 26, Block II,
Tiger Hill Survey District; thence south-westerly and north-
westerly along the south-eastern and south-western boundaries
of Section 26, aforesaid, and the production of the last-
mentioned boundary to the middle of the Manuherikia River;
thence generally north-easterly and north-westerly up the
middle of that river to its intersection with the western side
of a road at the confluence of the east and west branches
of the Manuherikia River; thence southerly along the western
side of that road and its production to the generally north-
eastern boundary of Run 685; thence generally north-westerly
along the north-eastern boundaries of Runs 685 and 201F to
a point in line with the north-eastern boundary of Run 684;
thence south-easterly to and along that boundary and north-
easterly along the north-western boundary of that Run 684
and its production to the middle of a road; thence south-
easterly to and along the north-eastern boundary of Run 684
to the north-western boundary of Run 322E; thence north-
easterly along a right line to Trig E on the north-eastern
boundary of Run 322E; thence south-easterly along the north-
eastern boundaries of Run 322E and Run 582 to the south-
eastern corner of Run 582; thence generally north-easterly
along the generally north-western boundary of Run 227 and
its production to the middle of Clear Stream; thence generally
south-easterly down the middle of Clear Stream to a point
opposite the left bank of a tributary of Clear Stream forming
part of the eastern boundary of Run 227C; thence south-
easterly to and along the left bank of that tributary to the
northernmost corner of Run 227C; thence generally south-
westerly along the generally south-eastern boundary of Run
227C to the summit of the Hawkdun Range; thence generally

ORDER IN COUNCIL
At the Government House at Wellington this 4th day of
October 1971
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
PURSUANT to the Local Government Commission Act 1967, His
Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the
advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes
the following order.
ORDER
-
This order shall come into force on the 1st day of
November 1971. -
The districts of the County of Otorohanga and the
Borough of Otorohanga shall be united to form one county
to be known as the County of Otorohanga (hereinafter called
the βsaid countyβ). -
The Council of the Borough of Otorohanga is hereby
dissolved. -
For representation purposes only, the said county shall
be divided into nine ridings with the following names and
boundaries:
(a) Te Rauamoao Riding, comprising the Te Rauamoao
Riding of the former County of Otorohanga;
(b) Honikiwi Riding, comprising the Honikiwi Riding of
the former County of Otorohanga;
(c) Korakonui Riding, comprising the Korakonui Riding of
the former County of Otorohanga;
(d) Ngaroma Riding, comprising the Ngaroma Riding of
the former County of Otorohanga;
(e) Kio Kio Riding, comprising the Kio Kio Riding of the
former County of Otorohanga;
(f) Paewhenua Riding, comprising the Paewhenua Riding
of the former County of Otorohanga;
(g) Waipa Riding, comprising the Waipa Riding of the
former County of Otorohanga;
(h) Kawhia North Riding, comprising the Kawhia North
Riding of the former County of Otorohanga; and
(i) Otorohanga Riding, comprising the area contained in
the district of the former Borough of Otorohanga.
- (1) The Council of the said county shall consist of 10
members, with representation as follows:
Te Rauamoao Riding One member
Honikiwi Riding One member
Korakonui Riding One member
Ngaroma Riding One member
Kio Kio Riding One member
Paewhenua Riding One member
Waipa Riding One member
Kawhia North Riding One member
Otorohanga Riding Two members.
(2) Notwithstanding any action required to be taken by the
Council of the said county pursuant to section 35 of the
Counties Act 1956, the Otorohanga Riding shall for a period
of 6 years, from the 1st day of November 1971, be represented
by not less than two members.
- Until the members of Council of the said county to be
elected at the first triennial general election of councillors after
the 1st day of November 1971 shall come into office, the
Council of the said county shall consist of 10 members com-
prising the following:
(a) The eight members of the Council of the County of
Otorohanga in office immediately prior to the date of
the union hereby effected.
(b) Two members of the former Council of the Borough of
Otorohanga in office immediately prior to the date of
the union hereby effected, to be chosen by that
Council to represent the Otorohanga Riding and for
the purpose of making that choice and for no other
purpose, the said Borough Council shall, if necessary,
continue in office after the 1st day of November 1971.

The Otorohanga Riding of the said county shall be a
County Borough, having the name of Otorohanga, and the
provisions of the Counties Act 1956 shall apply in all respects
as if the said County Borough had been constituted under
section 68 of the Counties Amendment Act 1968. -
Until the date prescribed by law for the first triennial
general election of members of county councils to be held
after the 1st day of November 1971, the members of the Otoro-
hanga County Borough Council shall be the Mayor and
Councillors of the former Otorohanga Borough Council. -
Except as otherwise provided herein or in the Local
Government Commission Act 1967, the provisions of section
28 of the Counties Act 1956 shall, with the necessary modifi-
cations and so far as they are applicable, apply to the union
hereby effected, as if the Borough of Otorohanga had been
a dependent town district. -
So far as they are applicable and with the necessary
modifications, the provisions of section 99A of the Land Trans-
fer Act 1952 shall apply to the union hereby effected.
