Ordinary Tickets--continued

  1. Availability—Tickets at ordinary fares (section 2) will have unlimited availability.

  2. Break of Journey—Except in cases where break of journey is necessitated by the train
    service, single tickets for distances of 10 miles and under will not be available for break of
    journey. Passengers holding ordinary tickets for distances over 10 miles may break the journey
    at any station at which the train is timed to stop, after travelling 10 miles from the original
    starting station: Provided that in the case of intersection bookings which necessitate a sea jour-
    ney between the North and South Islands, the rail journey may, after the completion of the
    sea journey, be broken at Christchurch.

  3. Return Journeys—The fare for a return journey will be double the single fare.

3. Family Excursion Tickets

  1. Fares—(a) Second-class family tickets available for return travel at five times the ordinary
    adult single fare (section 2), may be issued to parents and their children travelling together on
    services on which section 2 tickets are available—minimum 30 miles.
    (b) Family tickets for return travel at five times the special fares for South Island Limited
    (section 27), may be issued to parents and their children travelling together by the Southerner.

  2. Conditions—The children must be under 16 years of age, and be accompanied by at least
    one of their parents. The number of children in any family who may travel on one ticket is
    unlimited. The names of the parents or parent and children must be declared at the time of
    booking, and only the persons whose names are so declared may travel on the ticket.

  3. Availability—These tickets will have unlimited availability.

5. Ten-trip Concession Tickets

  1. Ten-trip tickets will be issued for distances not exceeding 27 miles for any journey which
    is not wholly within the points specified in section 32, paragraph 12, and will be charged as
    follows:

  1. Ten-trip concession tickets will be transferable and will have unlimited availability.
    Except when break of journey is necessitated by the train services, 10-trip concession tickets
    will not be available for break of journey.

  2. Children—No reduction in charge will be made for children. One or two children four
    years of age and under 15 years of age travelling on a 10-trip concession ticket will, however,
    count as one adult, and each additional one or two children will count as one adult.

  3. Where two or more passengers are travelling on one 10-trip concession ticket such pas-
    sengers must occupy seats in the same compartment or carriage.

  4. Holders of 10-trip concession tickets will be charged the full first-class fare (section 2)
    when found travelling in first-class carriages.
