Tariff and Development Board Notice No. 155—Public Inquiry
New Zealand - Australia Free Trade Agreement—
Elimination of Margins—Wooden Clothes Pegs (Tariff Item 44.24.01)
  1. Tariff and Development Board Notice No. 137 (New Zealand Gazette of Thursday, 30 October 1969) gave notice of the Board's intention to recommend, in respect of the goods listed in the Schedule to that notice, reduction of the rates of duty applicable to imports of Australian origin to the levels of the British Preferential Tariff or such lower rates as were indicated in the notes to the Schedule.

  2. An objection to such action has been lodged in respect of wooden clothes pegs classified in Tariff item 44.24.01, and the Board will, in accordance with its normal procedures, conduct a public inquiry in the Boardroom, First Floor, Law Society Building, 26 Waring Taylor Street, Wellington, on Tuesday, 12 May 1970, commencing at 10.30 a.m.

  3. The purpose of the inquiry will be to hear evidence on the proposed action as it affects these goods. The Board will also consider evidence placed before it regarding any of the rates of duty applicable to these goods and import licensing as it affects them.

  4. Twelve copies of a typewritten statement of the evidence, to be presented under oath at the public inquiry, should reach the Board's office no later than Tuesday, 28 April 1970. In preparing this evidence the “Notes for Guidance of Witnesses”, prepared by the Board, may be of assistance. Copies of these notes may be obtained from the Board's office.
