Officer Authorised to Take and Receive Statutory Declarations

PURSUANT to section 9 of the Oaths and Declarations Act 1957,
His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to
authorise the officer in the service of the Crown being the
holder for the time being of the office of Administration Officer
(Housing), Department of Maori and Island Affairs, Wellington,
to take and receive statutory declarations under the said
Act.

Publication of Declaration of Infected Area under Forest
Disease Control Regulations 1967—Arhopalus ferus, Hylastes
ater, Pachycotes peregrinus, Platypus apicalis, Sirex noctilio,
and Xyleborus saxeseni

THE following declaration, made under regulation 4 of the
Forest Disease Control Regulations 1967, is hereby published
in accordance with regulation 6 of the said regulations:

  1. Pursuant to the Forest Disease Control Regulations 1967
    and to the direction of the Minister of Forests, I, John Ure,
    Conservator of Forests, Rotorua, being an authorised forest
    officer under the said regulations, hereby declare the part of a
    county (within the meaning of the Counties Act 1956) and
    the borough (within the meaning of the Municipal Corpora-
    tions Act 1954) more particularly described hereunder to be,
    from and including the first date of publication of this
    Declaration, an "infected area" in respect of
    Arhopalus ferus
    Hylastes ater
    Pachycotes peregrinus
    Platypus apicalis
    Sirex noctilio
    Xyleborus saxeseni

PART OF COUNTY
THAT part of the County of Tauranga comprised in Matakana
Island.

BOROUGH
THE Borough of Mount Maunganui.

  1. By authority of the said regulations, I, as an authorised
    forest officer, hereby consent to the bringing or removal of
    forest produce:
    (a) from the above-described infected area to any other
    land, with the following exception:
    All infected and susceptible wood of all species
    of Pinus, Acacia, and Eucalyptus otherwise than to
    such other land, and subject to such conditions, as
    may be approved by an authorised forest officer
    (whether generally or in respect of specified items);
    (b) into the above-described area from any other land;
    (c) from any place or site within the above-described
    infected area to any other place or site within the
    infected area.

NOTES

  1. This Declaration comes into effect upon first publication in
    a newspaper circulating in the infected area described. Its
    purpose is to prevent the general spread of the named insects
    into timber intended for export from the port of Mount
    Maunganui.

  2. The Declaration makes it an offence, carrying a fine or
    imprisonment on conviction, to remove infected or susceptible
    wood out of the declared area if it is of pine, acacia, or
    eucalyptus species, as named above, unless—
    (a) an authorised forest officer has approved the proposed
    destination, and
    (b) all conditions he has stipulated have been complied
    with.

  3. The “infected area” out of which this wood may not be
    removed is the Borough of Mount Maunganui and Matakana
    Island. Movement within the area is authorised.

  4. The regulations exempt from this restriction cases where
    the above-mentioned wood has been treated in accordance
    with specifications prescribed in writing by an authorised forest
    officer. Inquiries should be addressed to the Conservator of
    Forests, Rotorua.

THE said declaration was published in the following news-
papers:

The New Zealand Herald, on the 20th, 23rd, and 24th days
of March 1970.
The Bay of Plenty Times, on the 21st, 23rd, and 24th days of
March 1970.
The Daily Post on the 20th and 24th days of March 1970.
In terms of regulation 4 (2) (a) of the said regulations,
the said amendment came into force on the 20th day of March
1970.

Consenting to Raising of Loans by Certain Local Authorities

PURSUANT to section 3 of the Local Authorities Loans Act 1956
(as amended by section 3 (1) of the Local Authorities Loans
Amendment Act 1967), the undersigned Assistant Secretary
to the Treasury, acting under powers delegated to the Secretary
to the Treasury by the Minister of Finance, hereby consents to
the borrowing by the local authority mentioned in the Schedule
hereto of the whole or any part of the amounts specified in
that Schedule.

Temporary Protection of Industry

NOTICE is hereby given that the Emergency Protection Autho-
rity has been requested to undertake an inquiry, in terms of
the Tariff and Development Board Amendment Act 1967, and
to report, in terms of section 10D of that Act, concerning the
following goods:

Flashlights and torches, falling within Tariff item 85.10.03.
Date of reference: 7 April 1970.

NOTICE is hereby given that, the objection referred to in Tariff
and Development Board notice No. 161 (New Zealand Gazette
dated 12 March 1970) having been withdrawn, the public
inquiry set down to commence on Thursday, 7 May 1970, has
been cancelled.

Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act 1954—Proposed
Cancellation of Registration of Industrial Union

PURSUANT to section 85 of the Industrial Conciliation and
Arbitration Act 1954, it is hereby notified that the registration
of the Auckland Bricklayers Industrial Union of Workers,
Registered No. 576, situated at 6 St. Martin’s Lane, Auckland,
will, unless cause to the contrary is shown, be cancelled on
the expiration of 6 weeks from the date of the publication of
this notice in the Gazette.
