PURSUANT to section 37 of the Public Works Amendment Act 1948, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.

O R D E R

(a) It is hereby authorised that the land described in the Schedule hereto, being land held primarily for the development of water power (Arapuni scheme) be applied also for recreation purposes, which shall be a secondary use of the said land.

(b) Part II of the Reserves and Domains Act 1953 shall apply to the said land.

(c) The control and management of the said land is hereby vested in the Waipa County Council.

SCHEDULE

SOUTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT

ALL that piece of land containing 2 acres 3 roods 10 perches situated in Block XVI, Maungatautiri Survey District, being land set apart for the development of water power (Arapuni scheme) by notice S. 443095, South Auckland Land Registry; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked M.O.W. 22435 (S.O. 43500) deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.

Authorising Manukau City Council to Reclaim Crown Foreshore and Bed of the Tamaki River at Bucklands Beach

PURSUANT to section 175 (2) of the Harbours Act 1950, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby authorises the Manukau City Council to reclaim from the Tamaki River, at Bucklands Beach, an area of 20 perches, more or less, of Crown foreshore and river bed as a recreation reserve; as shown, edged red, on plan marked M.D. 13328 and deposited in the office of the Marine Department at Wellington.

His Excellency the Governor-General has, pursuant to the Navy Act 1954, approved the following appointments, promotions, and terminations of appointment in the Royal New Zealand Navy:

Temporary Captain V. W. Were, released (at own request), to date 23 April 1969.

Commander G. H. Gould released (at own request), to date 30 June 1969.

Lieutenant Commander G. W. Glyde, granted the temporary rank of Commander, to date 19 May 1969.

Lieutenant Commander J. O’H. Tobin, granted the temporary rank of Commander, to date 7 April 1969.

Lieutenant Commander R. J. Tucker, engagement extended to 18 February 1976.

Surgeon Lieutenant Commander M. H. Watson, RNZNVR, entered in the RNZN on a 4-month short-service engagement in the temporary rank of Surgeon Lieutenant Commander, to date 10 April 1969.

Lieutenant R. I. Woodroofe, granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant Commander, to date 12 May 1969.

Lieutenant I. M. McGibbon, granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant Commander, to date 18 April 1969.

Lieutenant L. P. Mason, granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant Commander, to date 14 April 1969.

Lieutenant P. C. Hicks, released (medically unfit), to date 14 April 1969.

Lieutenant R. O. D. Lane, released (short-service commission completed), to date 22 April 1969.

Midshipmen R. J. Howland, P. M. McHaffie, and A. G. Tunnicliffe, promoted to the rank of Ensign and reappointed, to date 1 January 1969.

Temporary Fourth Officers E. P. Feltham and P. M. McGhie, WRNZNS, confirmed in the rank of Fourth Officer, WRNZNS, to date 7 March 1969.

Flight Lieutenant Graeme James Wharton Goldsmith (80861) is granted a permanent commission in the General Duties Branch, Regular Air Force, with effect from 14 March 1969.
