BYLAW

  1. This bylaw may be cited as the National Roads Board Bylaw 1954/1.
  2. In this bylaw "trailer" shall have the meaning assigned to it in the Transport Act 1949.
  3. No person shall take, draw, or propel, or permit to be taken, drawn, or propelled, any trailer along, upon, or over that section of the above-mentioned main highway between Cascade Camp and Milford Sound, the said section of main highway being generally known as the Homer Tunnel section.
  4. Every person guilty of an offence against this bylaw shall be liable for each such offence to a fine not exceeding forty dollars ($40).

This bylaw was made by resolution duly passed at a meeting of the National Roads Board held in Wellington on the 19th day of November 1954.

Special Order Made by Taupo County Council Altering Riding Boundaries

PURSUANT to section 88 of the Counties Act 1956, I hereby publish the following special order made by the Taupo County Council.

SPECIAL ORDER

In exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 23 of the Counties Act 1956, the Taupo County Council hereby resolves, by way of a special order, as follows:

  1. The present division of the County of Taupo into seven ridings be revoked and in lieu thereof the said county shall be divided into eight ridings, to be called respectively Mangakino Riding, Pouakani Riding, Taitua Riding, Tauhara Riding, Kaingaroa Riding, Rangitoto Riding, Tongariro Riding, and Turangi Riding, which said ridings are respectively described in the Schedule hereto.
  2. That, pursuant to section 36 of the Counties Act 1956, the Taupo County Council shall consist of 11 members who shall be elected as follows:
    Representing Mangakino Riding one member
    Representing Pouakani Riding two members
    Representing Taitua Riding two members
    Representing Tauhara Riding two members
    Representing Kaingaroa Riding one member
    Representing Rangitoto Riding one member
    Representing Tongariro Riding one member
    Representing Turangi Riding one member
  3. The alterations hereby made in the number of members of the said Council and the boundaries of the said ridings shall take effect at the general election of councillors to be held on 12 October 1968, except in so far and to such extent as may be necessary for preparing any roll or otherwise providing for that election.
  4. That the above resolution be confirmed at a special meeting of Council to be held on 8 October 1968.
  5. That public notice, in terms of section 87 of the Counties Act 1956, be given.

SCHEDULE

MANGAKINO RIDING
ALL that area in the South Auckland Land District, Taupo County, bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of the Waikato River (Maraetai Lake), in line with the western boundary of that portion of Pouakani Block in Block II, Whakamaru Survey District, shown on S.O. Plan 34312 (Leasehold Estate Taken for Water Power Development, Gazette, 1949, p. 2491), and proceeding southerly along a right line to and generally southerly and easterly along the generally western and southern boundaries of the said portion of Pouakani Block and that last-named boundary produced to the middle of the aforesaid Waikato River; thence northerly and westerly generally down the middle of that river to the point of commencement.

POUAKANI RIDING
ALL that area in the South Auckland Land District, Taupo County, bounded by a line commencing in the middle of the Waikato River at a point in line with the eastern boundary of part Pouakani B. 6E in Block IX, Atiamuri Survey District, and proceeding to and southerly along that boundary and the eastern boundary of part Section 1, Block IX, aforesaid, to the northern side of Tirohanga Road; thence southerly along a right line to and along the western boundaries of Lot 1, D.P. S. 11366, Lot 2, L.T.S. 11435, and Lot 8, D.P. 21102 to
