Boundaries of Borough of Mount Wellington and Borough of Ellerslie Defined

PURSUANT to section 26 of the Municipal Corporations Act 1954, the Secretary for Internal Affairs hereby defines, as set out in the Schedule hereto, the boundaries of the Boroughs of Mount Wellington and Ellerslie; the previous boundaries having been altered by an Order in Council made on 21 November 1962, and published in Gazette, 29 November 1962, No. 77, page 2149.

SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF BOROUGH OF MOUNT WELLINGTON

ALL that area in the North Auckland Land District containing 4075 acres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at the southernmost corner of part Lot 985, D.P. 39859 (recreation reserve, Gazette, 1953, page 1987), on the line of mean high water of the left bank of the Tamaki River in Block II, Otahuhu Survey District, and proceeding southerly generally along that bank, crossing the entrance to the Panmure Basin, to and along the left bank of the Otahuhu Creek to the northern side of Portage Road; thence westerly along that roadside and its production across the North Island Main Trunk Railway to the line of mean high water (spring tide) of the shores of the Manukau Harbour; thence northerly along the said shores and the left bank of St. Ann’s Creek to the south-western side of Great South Road; thence north-westerly along that roadside as originally defined to a point in line with the north-western boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 20282; thence north-westerly along a right line across the aforesaid Great South Road to the south-western corner of Section 169, Prescott Settlement in Block I, Otahuhu Survey District; thence easterly along the northern side of Great South Road and the north-western side of Penrose Road to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary of Section 211; thence north-easterly along a right line to the southernmost corner of the last-named section, a right line along the western boundary of that section and northerly through Section 212 and crossing Prescott Street, to and along the eastern boundaries of Sections 219, 218, and 207, all the said sections being of Prescott Settlement, a right line crossing the Auckland-Hamilton Motorway, to and along the eastern boundary of part Allotment 17, Section 12, Suburbs of Auckland (waterpower purposes, Gazette, 1957, page 617), a right line crossing Gavin Street, to and along the eastern boundaries of Allotment 138, Section 12 aforesaid, part Section 204, Prescott Settlement, and another part Allotment 17 aforesaid (waterpower purposes, Gazette, 1928, page 2956), to and north-westerly along the north-eastern boundaries of the said part Allotment 17, a right line crossing Gavin Street and again along the north-eastern boundary of the aforesaid allotment to the westernmost corner of Lot 6, D.P. 41128 (waterpower purposes, Gazette, 1953, page 1439); thence north-easterly along the north-western boundary of the said lot, a right line crossing Gavin Street to and along the north-western boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 41128, a right line passing through Lots 2 and 1, D.P. 44752, to and along the south-eastern boundaries of Lots 13, 12, 5, and 4, D.P. 34525, Lots 4 and 3, D.P. 44247, Lots 4, 5, 8, 9, and 10, D.P. 30443, to the easternmost corner of the last-mentioned lot, thence along a right line crossing the Ellerslie-Panmure Highway to the north-western side of Ballarat Street; thence north-easterly generally along the generally north-western side of the said street to the easternmost corner of Lot 1 of Section 1, Deeds Plan S.28; thence south-easterly along the production of the north-eastern boundary of that lot to the middle of the aforesaid street and again north-easterly generally along the middle of the said street, Whitley Avenue, and College Road to a point in line with the southern boundary of part Allotment 49, District of Tamaki, as shown on D.P. 22247; thence generally easterly along a right line to and along the said boundary and the generally southerly boundaries of part Lot 1, D.P. 31698, Lot 2, D.P. 35100, and part Allotment 50, District of Tamaki, as shown on D.P. 22247, to and along the generally northern boundaries of part Allotment 56, Section 12, Suburbs of Auckland (Mount Wellington Domain, Gazette, 1931, page 374) and another part Allotment 56 aforesaid, passing through Lot 1, D.P. 20235, to the northernmost corner of that allotment; thence north-westerly along a right line to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary of Allotment 57, Section 12, Suburbs of Auckland (compost plant, Gazette, 1961, page 1979), 828 links distant from the southernmost corner of that allotment; thence north-easterly along a right line to and along the said boundary to the western side of Ngahue Road; thence along a right line crossing the said road to and easterly along the southern boundaries of Lot 2, D.P. 29848, and Lot 1, D.P. 20163, crossing the Auckland-Westfield Loop Line, to and along the southern boundaries of Lot 1, D.P. 32031, part Lot 2, D.P. 20163 (railway purposes, Gazette, 1953, page 765), Lots 10 and 9, D.P. 32360 (railway purposes, Gazette, 1953, page 765), Lot 8 D.P. 32360 and Lot 11, D.P. 32360 (public street, transfer 385260), to the southernmost corner of the last-mentioned lot; thence north-easterly along a right line across Pilkington Road to the north-western corner of Lot 6, D.P. 44905 (recreation reserve, Gazette, 1958, page 387), and easterly generally along the generally northern boundary of the said lot, a right line crossing Tripoli Road to and along the generally northern boundary of Lot 529, D.P. 44905 (recreation reserve, Gazette, 1958, page 387), and that last-named boundary produced to the eastern side of Dunkirk Road; thence southerly along that roadside to the south-western corner of part Lot 985, D.P. 39859 (drainage purposes, Gazette, 1958, page 387); thence easterly along the southern boundaries of the said part Lot 985 and part Lot 985, D.P. 39859 (recreation reserve, Gazette, 1953, page 1987) to the point of commencement.

BOUNDARIES OF BOROUGH OF ELLERSLIE

ALL that area in the North Auckland Land District containing 745 acres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at a point in Block I, Otahuhu Survey District on the line between Standard Survey Blocks M.753 (Great South Road) and M.752 (Wairakei Street), and distant 113 links from the first-mentioned standard block and proceeding north-easterly along a right line to the south-western corner of Allotment 25, Section 12, Suburbs of Auckland; thence easterly along the old southern boundary of that allotment, passing through Lot 11, D.P. 14907, Lots 128 to 134, D.P. 17333, part Lot 2, D.P. 37168, Lot 135, D.P. 17333, Michaels Avenue, Lot 136, D.P. 17333, Allotments 118 and 114, Section 12, aforesaid, and Lot 4, D.P. 50297, to and northerly, easterly, and south-easterly along the western, northern, and north-eastern boundaries of the said Lot 4 and the north-eastern boundaries of Lots 4, 3, and 1 of Section 1, Deeds Plan S.28 to the north-western side of Ballarat Street; thence southerly generally along the generally western boundary of the Borough of Mount Wellington, hereinbefore described to the south-western side of Great South Road; thence north-westerly generally along that roadside as originally defined to the south-eastern side of Waiohua Street; thence north-easterly along the production of the said south-eastern side to the north-eastern side of Great South Road and north-westerly along that roadside as originally defined to the point of commencement.
