Notice of Intention to Take Land in Block I, Whakatane
Survey District, Whakatane County, for Soil Conservation
and River Control Purposes

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the pro-
visions of the Public Works Act 1928, to execute a certain
public work, namely, the construction of the Whakatane
River control scheme, and for the purposes of that public
work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required
to be taken. And notice is hereby further given that the
plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in
the post office at Whakatane, and is there open for inspec-
tion; that all persons affected by the execution of the said
public work or by the taking of the said land should, if
they have any objections to the execution of the said public
work or to the taking of the said land, not being objections
to the amount or payment of compensation, set forth the
same in writing and send the written objection, within 40 days
of the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of
Works at Wellington; and that, if any objection is made in
accordance with this notice, a public hearing of the objection
will be held unless the objector otherwise requires and each
objector will be advised of the time and place of the hearing.

PURSUANT to the Harbours Act 1950, the Minister of Marine
hereby licenses and permits Flora Margaret Thirkettle (herein-
after called the licensee, which term shall include her adminis-
trators, executors, or assigns, unless the context requires a
different construction) to use and occupy a part of the fore-
shore and bed of the sea at Helensville, Kaipara Harbour, as
shown on plan marked M.D. 9468 and deposited in the office
of the Marine Department at Wellington, for the purpose of
maintaining thereon a wharf, as shown on the said plan, such
licence to be held and enjoyed by the licensee upon and subject
to the terms and conditions set forth in the Schedule hereto.
