BOUNDARIES OF BROADFIELD RIDING
ALL that area in the County of Paparua, Canterbury Land
District, commencing at the junction of Selwyn Road and
Weedons Road on the Paparua County boundary hereinbefore
described, Block IV, Leeston Survey District, and proceeding
north-easterly along the middle of the said Selwyn Road and
Shands Road to the middle of Hamptons Road; thence south-
easterly generally along the middle of the last-mentioned road,
Prebbleton-Lincoln Road and Leadleys Road to the middle of
Ellesmere Road; thence south-westerly along the middle of
that road to the Paparua County boundary hereinbefore de-
scribed; thence generally north-westerly along the south-
western boundary of that County to the point of commence-
ment.

Mt. Hutt Riding, and the Upper Ashburton Riding of the
County of Ashburton Defined

PURSUANT to section 88 of the Counties Act 1956, the
Secretary for Internal Affairs hereby defines, as set out in
the Schedule hereto, the boundaries of the County of Ash-
burton, Mt. Somers Riding, Mt. Hutt Riding, and of the
Upper Ashburton Riding of the County of Ashburton, the
previous boundaries having been altered by Orders in Council
made on the 26th day of March 1962, the 10th day of
February 1964, and on the 21st day of September 1966, and
published in Gazette, 29 March 1962, No. 20, page 506,
20 February 1964, No. 8, page 212, and 26 September 1966,
No. 55, page 1489, respectively.

BOUNDARIES OF THE COUNTY OF ASHBURTON
ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing
1,515,081 acres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing
at Mathias Pass on the Main Divide and proceeding south-
easterly generally to and down the middle of a tributary
of the Mathias River, the middle of the Mathias River, and
the middle of the Rakaia River, passing through Great Island
to the sea; thence south-westerly to and along the mean
high-water mark of the sea to the middle of the Rangitata
River; thence north-westerly generally up the middle of
the Rangitata River, the middle of the Havelock River, the
middle of the Forbes River, and the northern boundary of
Run 110B to the summit of the Two Thumb Range; thence
north-easterly along the summit of that range and the Main
Divide to the point of commencement, excluding therefrom
the Borough of Ashburton, as described in Gazette 1967,
page 595.

BOUNDARIES OF MT. SOMERS RIDING
ALL that area in the County of Ashburton, Canterbury Land
District, bounded by a line commencing at Whitcombe Pass
on the summit of the Main Divide, the said pass being on
the boundary of the County of Ashburton, hereinbefore
described, and proceeding south-easterly generally to and
down the middle of Louper Stream and the middle of
Rakaia River to a point in line with the middle of Lake
Stream; thence southerly generally to and down the
middle of Lake Stream to a point in line with the
south-western boundary of Run 118; thence south-easterly
generally to and along that boundary, the south-western and
south-eastern boundaries of Run 118A, the western and
southern boundaries of Run 119, and down the middle of
the North Branch of the Ashburton River to a point in
line with the north-western boundary of Lot 4, D.P. 6237;
thence south-westerly generally to and along the said
boundary and northern side of Earlys Road and its produc-
tion to a point on the eastern boundary of Rural Section
34145, along that boundary and the south-eastern boundary
of that section and its production to the middle of Taylors
Stream; thence south-easterly generally down the middle of
the said stream and the middle of the South Branch of the
Ashburton River to a point in line with the north-western
boundary of Rural Section 36011; thence south-westerly to
and along the said boundary and the north-western boundaries
of Rural Sections 34026, 26412, 8860, 34631, and 21336;
thence south-easterly along the north-eastern side of
Valetta Westerfield Road to a point in line with the middle
of Tanks Road; thence south-westerly to and along the
middle of Tanks Road and its production to a point on the
north-eastern boundary of Lot 2, D.P. 6431, along the said
boundary and the north-western boundary of the said lot and
its production to the middle of the Hinds River; thence
north-westerly up the middle of that river to the middle of
Woodend-Winchester No. 72 Provincial State Highway;
thence south-westerly along the said State Highway to a point
in line with the middle of Shepherds Bush Road; thence
north-westerly generally to and along the middle of that
road and the middle of Rangitata Terrace Road to a point
in line with the north-western boundary of Rural Section
28913; thence to and along the said boundary and its pro-
duction to the middle of the Rangitata River being a point
on the boundary of the County of Ashburton hereinbefore
described; thence north-westerly, and north-easterly generally
along that boundary to the point of commencement.

ALL that area in the County of Ashburton, Canterbury Land
District, bounded by a line commencing at a point in the
middle of the Rakaia River, in line with the middle of
Lauriston Barrhill Road, the said point being on the boun-
dary of the County of Ashburton, hereinbefore described,
and proceeding south-westerly to and along the middle of the
said road, and Winchmore Lauriston Road to the middle of
Thompsons Track; thence westerly along the middle of the
said track to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary
of Rural Section 37654; thence north-westerly to and along
the said boundary and the north-eastern boundary of Rural
Section 37653 and its production to the middle of Lyndhurst
Road; thence south-westerly along that road and Braemar
Road to a point in the middle of Thompsons Track; thence
to and along the south-eastern boundary of Rural Section
19532, the eastern and southern boundaries of Rural Section
7967, the south-eastern boundaries of Rural Section 25911,
and Lots 2 and 1, D.P. 2480, and the production of the last-
mentioned boundary to the middle of Ashburton Rakaia
Gorge, No. 77 Provincial State Highway; thence north-
westerly along the middle of the said State Highway and
Ashburton River Road to a point in line with the north-
western boundary of Rural Section 37937; thence south-
westerly to and along the said boundary and the north-west
boundary of Rural Section 13973 and the production of the
last-mentioned boundary to the middle of the North Branch
of the Ashburton River; thence north-westerly generally up
the middle of the said river to the southern boundary of
Run 118A, the said boundary being on the boundary of the
Mt. Somers Riding hereinbefore described; thence north-
westerly, north-easterly, and south-easterly generally along
the boundary of Mt. Somers Riding and the boundary of the
County of Ashburton, hereinbefore described, to the point
of commencement.

BOUNDARIES OF UPPER ASHBURTON RIDING
ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, County of
Ashburton, bounded by a line commencing at the intersection
of the middle of the Main South Road (No. 1 National
State Highway) and Dromore-Methven Road, in Block VI,
Ashburton Survey District, and proceeding south-westerly
along the middle of the Main South Road to the boundary
of the Borough of Ashburton hereinbefore described; thence
generally north-westerly, southerly, and south-westerly along
that borough boundary to a point on the centre line of the
South Island Main Trunk Railway, the said point being in
line with the south-western boundary of Reserve 1422; thence
south-westerly along the centre line of the said railway to
the middle of the Hinds River; thence north-westerly up
the middle of that river to a point in line with the south-
eastern boundary of Rural Section 31100; thence north-
easterly to and along that boundary and its production across
Barford Road, to and along the middle of Tanks Road and
its production across Valetta-Westerfield Road, to and along
the north-western boundaries of Rural Sections 21336, 34631,
8860, 26412, 34026, 36011 and the production of the last-
mentioned boundary to the middle of the south branch of
the Ashburton River; thence north-westerly up the middle
of that river and Taylors Stream to a point in line with the
middle of a road forming the south-eastern boundary of
Rural Section 34145; thence north-easterly generally to and
along the middle of that road, Alford Forest Cemetery Road,
Earlys Road, and across Forks Road to and along the south-
eastern boundary of Lot 3, D.P. 6237, and the production of
the last-mentioned boundary to the middle of the north branch
of the Ashburton River; thence south-easterly down the middle
of that river to a point in line with the north-western
boundary of Rural Section 13973, in Block III, Westerfield
Survey District; thence north-easterly to and along that
boundary and the north-western boundary of Rural Section
37937 and its production to the middle of Ashburton River
Road; thence south-easterly along the middle of that road
and Ashburton Methven Rakaia Gorge Road (No. 77 Pro-
vincial State Highway) to a point in line with the south-
eastern boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 2480; thence north-easterly
to and along that boundary, and the south-eastern boundaries
of Lot 2, D.P. 2480, and Rural Section 25911, the south-
