things necessary or expedient for the peace, order, and good government of the Dependency, and to safeguard and preserve Her Majesty’s rights and sovereignty over and in respect of the Dependency:
And whereas it is expedient that the persons hereinafter named be appointed officers of the Government of the Dependency:
Now therefore, I, Brigadier Sir Bernard Edward Fergusson, the Governor-General of New Zealand, and as such the Governor of the Ross Dependency, hereby appoint
Colin Maxwell Clark, Esquire,
as an officer of the Government of the Dependency; and I hereby confer on him all the powers and authorities which may be exercised in New Zealand by a Stipendiary Magistrate and also all the powers and authorities which may be so exercised by a Justice of the Peace, and also the powers and authorities which may be so exercised by a Coroner, and also the powers and authorities which may be so exercised by a Postmaster.
And I also appoint
David Hugh Brown, Esquire,
as an officer of the Government of the Dependency; and I hereby confer on him all the powers and authorities which may be exercised in New Zealand by a Postmaster.
The said Colin Maxwell Clark and the said David Hugh Brown to exercise their functions at such places within the Dependency as may be directed by the officer for the time being appointed as an officer of the Government of the Dependency in whom is vested the general executive and administrative authority in preserving Her Majesty’s rights and sovereignty and the laws and regulations in force in the Dependency; and to hold office and exercise the duties thereof during pleasure.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, as the Governor of the Ross Dependency, this 28th day of September 1966.

Exempting Land in the South Auckland Land District from the Operation of Part III of the Coal Mines Act 1925
BERNARD FERGUSSON, Governor-General
PURSUANT to the Coal Mines Act 1925, His Excellency the Governor-General hereby gives the following notice.
NOTICE
THE land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby exempted from the operation of Part III of the Coal Mines Act 1925.
SCHEDULE
ALL that area of land in the South Auckland Land District containing 6 acres 3 roods 20 perches, more or less, being Lots 22 to 25, 32, and 33, D.P. 21946, and part of the land on D.P. 20355, being parts Allotment 136, Whangape Parish, and part Section 5, Block XIII, Ranginiri Survey District, comprised in part certificate of title, Volume 639, folio 264.
As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked as above mentioned, deposited in the office of the Mines Department at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General this 22nd day of September 1966.

Notice to Appoint Douglas William Ashley Barker, and Norman Edgenton Briggs, Both of Wellington, as Members of the Co-operative Dairy Companies Income Tax Appeal Authority
PURSUANT to regulation 10 of the Co-operative Dairy Companies Income Tax Regulations 1955, promulgated in pursuance of section 146 of the Land and Income Tax Act 1954, His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to appoint, on 16 September 1966, Douglas William Ashley Barker and Norman Edgenton Briggs as members of the Co-operative Dairy Companies Income Tax Appeal Authority for the purposes of the Land and Income Tax Act 1954, and also to appoint the said Douglas William Ashley Barker as Chairman of the said Authority.
