The Tobacco Board Election Regulations 1952—Election to Fill an Extraordinary Vacancy on the Tobacco Board

PURSUANT to the Tobacco Growing Industry Act 1935 as amended by the Tobacco Growing Industry Amendment Act 1951 and the Tobacco Board Election Regulations 1952, an election to fill an extraordinary vacancy in the membership of the Tobacco Board will be held on Tuesday, 16 November 1965, and the poll will close at noon on that day. The last hour and day for receiving nominations will be noon on Wednesday, 20 October 1965.

Persons qualified to vote at such election shall be those persons who, on 1 March 1965, were licensed growers as contained in the Roll of Licensed Tobacco Growers 1965 issued for the purpose of the election of tobacco growers’ representatives held on 22 September 1965.

Queen’s Commendation for Brave Conduct

His Excellency the Governor-General has announced that The Queen’s Commendation for Brave Conduct has been awarded to Mr Donald William Jones, of Linden, in recognition of his gallant services during rescue operations when three boys were trapped in a water main tunnel at Khandallah on the evening of Sunday, 14 June 1964.

Tariff and Development Board Notice No. 39—Addition to Terms of Reference of Public Inquiry Into Import Duties and Import Licensing Affecting Printed Woven Furnishing Fabrics

  1. Tariff and Development Board Notice No. 37 of 9 August 1965 gave notice of the intention of the Tariff and Development Board to inquire into and report on the question of what rates of import duty should be imposed on certain printed woven furnishing fabrics and fabrics for household use, also import licensing as affecting such goods.

  2. It has now been decided to add the goods classified under the following tariff item to the list of goods under inquiry:

Other terry towelling and similar terry fabrics, of cotton (bleached, dyed, mercerised, printed, or otherwise finished) :

Item No. 652.220.9 Other kinds

The present rates of import duty in respect of this item are:

British Preferential: Free.
General Tariff: 15 per cent.
