  1. That for a period of three years following the date prescribed by law for the first triennial elections of members of county councils held after the 1st day of April 1965, the number of members of the council of the united county shall be 14 to be elected as follows:

  1. That the first election of members of the council of the united county shall be held on the day fixed by law for the next triennial election of members of county councils.

  2. That until the members elected as aforesaid come into office the council of the united county shall comprise the 10 members of the present council of the County of Waiapu and either the Matakaoa County Commissioner and three members of the present council of the County of Matakaoa to be chosen by the Matakaoa County Commissioner, or four members of that council to be chosen by him.

  3. That, except as otherwise provided in this Order in Council, the union of the County of Matakaoa and the County of Waiapu and the alteration of boundaries of the united county and the County of Opotiki hereinbefore made shall be deemed to have been effected under the Counties Act 1956.

SCHEDULE

ALL that area in the Gisborne Land District, Matakaoa County, containing 15,800 acres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at a point on the sea coast in Block II, Whangaparaoa Survey District, being the northernmost corner of Oruaiti 1B and being also a point on the boundary of the County of Opotiki as described in New Zealand Gazette, 1949, page 1427, and proceeding north-easterly generally along the sea coast to the north-easternmost corner of Whangaparaoa 2D and 2E 2B 1 in Block III, Whangaparaoa North Survey District; thence south-easterly along the north-eastern boundary of the said 2D and 2E 2B 1 and its production across State Highway No. 35 to and along the said north-eastern boundary and its production across a public road to and along the said north-eastern boundary and the north-eastern boundary of Section 1, Block I, Matakaoa West Survey District, to the south-eastern corner of the last-mentioned section; thence westerly generally along the southern boundaries of Section 1, aforesaid, Whangaparaoa 2D and 2E 2B 2 and the production of the last-mentioned boundary to the middle of the Whangaparaoa River, up the middle of that river to a point in line with the middle of Mangapouri Stream, to and up the middle of that stream to a point in line with the southern boundary of part Whangaparaoa 1B, to and along that boundary and the southern boundary of Part Whangaparaoa 1A to Trigonometrical Station G3 Tapuaeharuru, in Block II, Whangaparaoa Survey District, being also the easternmost corner of Oruaiti 1B, along the north-eastern boundary of Oruaiti 1B and its production across State Highway No. 35, to and along the said north-eastern boundary to the point of commencement; together with the islands off Cape Runaway.

PURSUANT to section 121 of the Electric Power Boards Act 1925, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.

O R D E R

  1. This order may be cited as the South Canterbury Electric Power Board Empowering Order 1965.

  2. Consent is hereby given to the South Canterbury Electric Power Board assisting in the establishment within its district of the industry of processing wool tops by giving to persons engaged in that industry concessions, on such terms as may from time to time be approved by the Minister, in the rates charged for electrical energy supplied by the Board for the purposes of the industry.

PURSUANT to section 5 of the Electric Power Boards Act 1925 (as substituted by section 2 of the Electric Power Boards Amendment Act 1963), His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.

O R D E R

  1. This order may be cited as the Central Canterbury Electric Power District Order 1965.

  2. The Central Canterbury Electric Power District, the Malvern Electric Power District, and the outer area of the Malvern Electric Power District shall be united on the 1st day of April 1965, to form one district to be known as the Central Canterbury Electric Power District.

  3. The district so formed shall consist of the area described in the First Schedule hereto.

  4. The constituent districts of the Central Canterbury Electric Power District, which are bracketed together in the first column of the Second Schedule hereto, shall be combined districts for the purpose of the said Act.

  5. The local authority of each constituent district distinguished in the first column of the said Second Schedule by the letter “(P)” shall be the principal local authority of the combined district of which it forms a part.

  6. The number of representatives of each constituent district and combined district of the Central Canterbury Electric Power Board on the Central Canterbury Electric Power Board shall be the number specified in the said Second Schedule opposite the name of that constituent district or combined district.

  7. The first election of the representatives of the constituent districts and combined districts of the Central Canterbury Electric Power District shall be held at the time of the next general election of members of local authorities.

  8. After the said 1st day of April 1965, and until the next general election of members of local authorities, the Board of the united district shall comprise the members of the present Central Canterbury Electric Power Board, and one member of the present Malvern Electric Power Board nominated by the Malvern and Tawera County Councils.

CENTRAL CANTERBURY ELECTRIC POWER DISTRICT

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, situated in the Counties of Akaroa, Wairewa, Mount Herbert, Heathcote, Ellesmere, Halswell, Paparua, Malvern, Tawera, and Ashburton and the Borough of Lyttelton bounded by a line commencing at a point on the sea coast in line with the middle of the Rakaia River and proceeding north-westerly generally up the middle of that river (passing through Great Island) and the middle of Lauper Stream to Whitcombe Pass on the Main Divide; thence north-easterly generally along the Main Divide to the Snowy Range (between Mount Bryne and Harper Pass); thence south-easterly generally along the summit of the Snowy and Dampier Ranges and south-westerly generally along the summit of the Puketeraki Range to Trig. Station S., Block IX, Upper Ashley Survey District; thence due west along a right line to the middle of the Waimakariri River; thence southerly and south-easterly generally down the middle of that river and the middle of the old bed of the South Branch of the Waimakariri River to a point in line with the middle of Shipleys Road (Block VI, Christchurch Survey District); thence south-westerly to and along the middle of Shipleys Road and Russley Road to the middle of Yaldhurst Road; thence south-easterly generally along the middle lines of Yaldhurst Road, Riccarton Road, Hansons Lane, Blenheim Road, and Annex Road to the middle of Middle Lincoln Road; thence south-westerly along the middle of that road to the middle of Halswell Junction Road; thence north-westerly along that road to a point in line with the north-western boundary of Rural Section 952, Block XIV, Christchurch Survey District; thence south-westerly to and along that boundary and its production to the middle of Knights Stream; thence south-easterly generally down the middle of that stream and the Halswell River to a point in line with the northern boundary of Rural Section 5786; thence due east to the middle of Halswell Road (No. 75 State Highway); thence southerly and south-easterly along the middle lines of Halswell Road and Old Taitapu Road to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Rural Section 24216 (closed road); thence north-westerly and north-easterly generally to and along the south-western and north-western boundaries of Rural Section 24216 to Kennedys Bush Road; thence south-easterly generally to and along the middle of that road to a point in line with the northern boundary of Rural Section 33743x, Block III, Halswell Survey District; thence easterly generally to and along that boundary to Rural Section 520; thence south-easterly along the production of the south-western boundary of Rural Section 520 (across the Summit Road and through Reserve
