Awarua Bay Road to the southern boundary of Lot 12,
on plan numbered 2702 and deposited as aforesaid; thence
west, south, and west again along the southern boundaries of
the said Lot 12 and Lots 13 and 14, on the said plan numbered
2702, the eastern boundary of Lot 15, on the said plan
numbered 2702, and the southern boundaries of the said
Lot 15 and Lots 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, and 21, on the said

Siding Road; thence north along the eastern side of the
said Awarua Siding Road to the northern side of a public
road forming the northernmost boundary of Block XII,

town Hundred, to the western side of the last-mentioned
public road; thence south along the western side of the
said public road, and that line produced, to the Mean
High-water Mark of the Bluff Harbour; thence westerly
and southerly generally along the Mean High-water Mark of
Bluff Harbour, to the north-western boundary of the
Borough of Bluff, as described in the New Zealand Gazette,
1964, page 97; thence south-west along the said north-western
boundary of the Borough of Bluff to the Mean High-water
Mark of Foveaux Strait; thence north-westerly and north-
easterly generally along the Mean High-water Mark of
Foveaux Strait and the New River Estuary to the mouth
of the Mokotua Stream; thence north-west by a right line
to a point on the Mean High-water Mark of the New

River Estuary adjoining the easternmost portion of part
Section 6, Block XXIII, New River Hundred; thence southerly,
westerly, and north-westerly generally along the Mean High-
water Mark of the New River Estuary and Foveaux Strait
to a point in line with the southern side of a public road
forming the northern boundary of the Township of Oreti
Beach, as shown on Plan numbered 2799 and deposited as
aforesaid, and the northern boundaries of part Section 31
and Section 7A, Block XV, New River Hundred; thence north-
east to and along the southern side of the said public road,
across the Oreti River to the eastern side thereof; thence
northerly generally along the eastern side of the said Oreti
River to a point in line with the western boundary of Section
32, Block XVI, Invercargill Hundred; thence north-west to
and along the western boundary of the said Section 32, Block
XVI, to the southern side of Ferry Road; thence east along
the southern side of the said Ferry Road to a point in line
with the eastern side of Camp Road; thence north-west
to and along the eastern side of the said Camp Road and
the public road along the eastern bank of the Oreti River
to the north-west boundary of Section 10, Block XVI, afore-
said; thence north-east along the north-west boundaries of the
said Section 10 and Sections 11, 12, and 13, Block XVI,
aforesaid, to the southern side of West Plains Road; thence
north across West Plains Road to and along the western
boundary of Section 19, Block XVI, aforesaid, and that
last-mentioned boundary produced, across a public road along
the eastern bank of the Oreti River to the eastern bank of
the said Oreti River; thence northerly generally along the
eastern bank of the Oreti River and the eastern bank of
the Tomoporakau Stream to the eastern boundary of Section
83, Block XVI, New River Hundred; thence north-east, north-
west, and south-west along the eastern boundary of the
said Section 83, Block XVI, and the eastern, northern, and
southern boundaries of Section 7A, Block XVI, aforesaid,
and that last-mentioned boundary produced, to the eastern
bank of the said Tomoporakau Stream; thence northerly
along the eastern bank of the said Tomoporakau Stream to
the southern boundary of Section 53, Block XVI, afore-
said; thence west, north, and east along the southern,
western, and northern boundaries of the said Section 53,
Block XVI, to and across the Tomoporakau Stream to the
eastern bank thereof; thence northerly generally along the
eastern bank of the said Tomoporakau Stream to a point
in line with the eastern side of Price Road on State Highway
No. 99, thence northerly generally across State Highway No.
99 to and along the eastern side of Price Road, across the
Tuatapere Branch Railway Reserve, to the point of
commencement.

Excluded from the above-described area is the City of
Invercargill as described in New Zealand Gazette, 1964,

Counties of Waiapu and Matakaoa United and Boundaries
of County of Opotiki Altered

ORDER IN COUNCIL
At the Government Buildings at Wellington this 29th day of
March 1965
Present:
THE RIGHT HON. KEITH HOLYOAKE, C.H., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL
PURSUANT to the Local Government Commission Act 1961,
His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the
advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes
the following order.

ORDER

  1. That on and from the 1st day of April 1965 the County
    of Waiapu and the County of Matakaoa are hereby united to
    form one county to be known as the County of Waiapu (here-
    inafter referred to as the united county).

  2. That upon the constitution of the united county:
    (a) The existing counties of Waiapu and Matakaoa shall
    be abolished and the councils of the said counties
    shall be dissolved and:
    (b) The area described in the Schedule hereto shall be
    excluded from the united county and included in the
    County of Opotiki.

  3. That for representation purposes the united county shall
    be divided into 11 ridings to be known as the Whangaparaoa,
    Wharekahika, Awatere, Horoera, Awanui, Tapuaeroa, Piri-
    tarau, Waipiro, Mata, Hikuwai, and Tokomaru Ridings.

  4. (a) That the Wharekahika, Awatere, and Horoera Ridings
    of the united county shall comprise respectively the present
    Wharekahika, Awatere, and Horoera Ridings of the present
    county of Matakaoa.
    (b) That the Awanui, Tapuaeroa, Piritarau, Waipiro, Mata,
    Hikuwai, and Tokomaru Ridings of the united county shall
    comprise respectively the present Awanui, Tapuaeroa, Piri-
    tarau, Waipiro, Mata, Hikuwai, and Tokomaru Ridings of
    the present County of Waiapu.
    (c) That the Whangaparaoa Riding of the united county
    shall comprise the present Whangaparaoa Riding of the
    present County of Matakaoa less the area described in the
    Schedule hereto.
