Varying a Notice Declaring Parts of a Tribal District to be
Tribal Committee Areas Under the Maori Social and
Economic Advancement Act 1945

PURSUANT to section 14 (2) of the Maori Social and
Economic Advancement Act 1945, the Minister of Maori
Affairs hereby varies the notice dated 23 June 1950 and
published in the Gazette, 6 July 1950, Vol. II, pages 869
and 870, declaring parts of the Taniwharau Tribal District
to be tribal committee areas for the purposes of the said
Act, by deleting from the Schedule thereto the descriptions
of the Tarawhiti Settlement Tribal Committee area and the
Rakaumanga Tribal Committee area and substituting therefor
the description appearing in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE

TANIWHARAU TRIBAL DISTRICT
Rakaumanga Tribal Committee Area
ALL that area bounded by a line commencing at the western-
most corner of Section 1, Block IX, Rangiriri Survey District;
thence proceeding easterly along a right line to the western-
most corner of Section 2, Block XI, Rangiriri Survey District,
and its production to the middle of the Waikato River;
thence southerly generally up the middle of that river to the
northern boundary of the Borough of Ngaruawahia as des-
cribed in Gazette, 1921, at page 501; thence westerly generally
along that boundary to the south-western corner of Section
36, Parish of Waipa, and along a right line to the confluence
of the Akatea Stream and the Waiungaro Stream; thence
northerly along a right line to the westernmost corner of
Section 1, Block IX, Rangiriri Survey District, the point of
commencement.

Limited Speed Zone Declared

PURSUANT to the Transport Act 1949, the Minister of Trans-
port hereby gives notice as follows:

  1. That so much of the Warrant under section 3 of the
    Motor Vehicles Amendment Act 1936, dated the 19th day of
    April 1938,* as relates to Arrowtown Borough is hereby
    revoked.

  2. The road specified in the First Schedule hereto is hereby
    excluded from the limitation as to speed imposed by section
    36 of the Transport Act 1949.

  3. The road specified in the Second Schedule hereto is hereby
    declared to be a limited speed zone for the purposes of the
    Traffic Regulations 1956+

FIRST SCHEDULE

SITUATED within Arrowtown Borough—
Centennial Avenue (from a point 8 chains measured south-
erly generally along the said avenue from Suffolk Street to
the southern boundary of Arrowtown Borough).

SECOND SCHEDULE

SITUATED within Arrowtown Borough—
Centennial Avenue (from a point 8 chains measured south-
erly generally along the said avenue from Suffolk Street to a
point 4 chains measured southerly generally along Centennial
Avenue from Cornwall Street).

Exemption Order Under the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940

PURSUANT to the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940, the Minister
of Transport hereby orders and declares that the provisions
of clause (1) of regulation 7 of the said regulations so far
as they relate to the driving of heavy trade motors shall not
apply to the persons hereinafter mentioned, but in lieu thereof
the following provision shall apply:

A motor driver's licence issued under the Motor Drivers
Regulations 1940 to the persons described in column 1 of the
Schedule hereunder may authorise them to drive a heavy
trade motor in the course of their employment for the
employers described in column 2 of the said Schedule, but
shall not authorise them, while they are under the age of 18
years, to drive a heavy trade motor for any other purpose.

Exemption Order Under the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940

PURSUANT to the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940; the
Minister of Transport hereby orders and declares that the
provisions of clause (1) of regulation 7 of the said regulations

Regulations 1940

PURSUANT to regulation 5 of the Motor Drivers Regulations
1940, the Minister of Transport hereby approves of the person
named in column 2 of the Schedule hereunder being a testing
officer under the said regulations for the authority specified
in column 1 of the said Schedule.
