HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
PURSUANT to the Rabbits Act 1955, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.
O R D E R
- (1) This order may be cited as the Waiau Rabbit District Order 1961.
(2) This order shall come into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette.
- The boundaries of the Waiau Rabbit District, which was constituted by Order in Council on the 1st day of December 1943*, are hereby altered and redefined and as from the commencement of this order, the boundaries of the said district shall be those specified in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE
BOUNDARIES OF THE WAIAU RABBIT DISTRICT
ALL that area in the Canterbury and Marlborough Land Districts, Amuri County, containing 164,700 acres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of the Waiau River in line with the eastern boundary of Section 14, Annan Settlement, Block XIV, Waiau Survey District, and proceeding westerly and northerly generally along the middle of the Waiau River to a point in line with the left bank of the Hanmer River; thence north-easterly generally to and along the left bank of that river to and along the south-eastern boundary of Run 279 (The Hossack) to the right bank of the Lottery River; thence north-easterly along that bank to and along the north-western boundary of Section 126, Square 80, to the north-western corner of that section; thence easterly along the southern boundary of Run 208 (Cloudy Range) to the middle of the Mason River; thence north-easterly along a right line to a point one mile due south of a point on the summit of the seaward Kaikoura Range, bearing 205° distance 3½ miles from Trig. A (Cloudy Range); thence due north to that point; thence north-easterly generally along the summit of the said range to Palmer Saddle; thence south-easterly to and along the right bank of the Conway River to the right bank of the Gelt River, in Block I, Hawkswood Survey District; thence south-westerly along the right bank of the Gelt River to the easternmost corner of Lot 3, D.P. 2884; thence south-westerly generally along the south-eastern boundary of the said Lot 3, the north-western boundary of Lot 2, D.P. 2884; and the south-eastern boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 2884, and its production to the left bank of the Gelt River; thence easterly along that bank to the easternmost corner of part Section 15, Square 80; thence north-westerly and westerly along the north-eastern and northern boundary of that lot and the northern boundary of Section 16, Square 80, to its north-western corner; thence westerly along the northern boundary of part Section 48, Square 80, comprised in C.T. 19/39, and its production across a road to the easternmost corner of Section 4, Annan Settlement; thence south-westerly generally along the eastern and southern boundaries of that section, the generally eastern boundaries of Sections 6, 7, 8, 39, 40, and 14 to the northern boundary of Res. 3562; thence north-easterly and southerly generally along the north-western and eastern boundaries of that reserve and the old rabbit fence (formerly the eastern and southern boundaries of section 14 Annan Settlement) passing through Lot 1, D.P. 5331, to the middle of the Stanton River; thence northerly along the middle of that river to the eastern boundary of Section 14, Annan Settlement; thence southerly generally along the eastern boundary of that section and its production to the point of commencement.

PURSUANT to the Local Authorities Loans Act 1956, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council hereby consents to the borrowing by the local authorities mentioned in the Schedule hereto by way of loan of the whole or any part of the respective amounts specified in that Schedule.
