Varying a Proclamation Declaring Parts of New Zealand
to be a Tribal District Under the Maori Social and
Economic Advancement Act 1945

A PROCLAMATION
PURSUANT to section 6 (2) of the Maori Social and
Economic Advancement Act 1945, I, Charles John, Viscount
Cobham, the Governor-General of New Zealand, do hereby
vary a Proclamation published in the Gazette on 20 January
1949 at page 48 declaring parts of New Zealand to be a
tribal district under the Maori Social and Economic
Advancement Act 1945, by substituting for the name West-
land Tribal District appearing in the Schedule thereto the
name Kotuku Tribal District.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-
General, and issued under the Seal of New Zealand,
this 27th day of July 1961.

PURSUANT to the Public Works Act 1928, I, Charles John,
Viscount Cobham, the Governor-General of New Zealand,
hereby proclaim and declare that the Crown land described
in the Schedule hereto is hereby set apart for police purposes
(residence); and I also declare that this Proclamation shall
take effect on and after the 21st day of August 1961.

GISBORNE LAND DISTRICT
ALL that piece of Crown Land containing 1 rood situated in
Block IV, Mata Survey District, Gisborne R.D., and being
part Section 34, Town of Ruatoria Extension No. 3; as the
same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked
M.O.W. 3371 (S.O. plan 5286) deposited in the office of the
Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured
orange.

hereby proclaim and declare that the Crown Land described
in the Schedule hereto is hereby set apart for prison purposes;
and I also declare that this Proclamation shall take effect on
and after the 21st day of August 1961.

ALL that piece of land containing 831 acres 3 roods 18·4
perches situated in Block IV, Manganui Survey District,
Wellington R.D., being Waimarino 4A, 1A, 4A 2, and 4A 4

and 206, and being all Proclamation No. 490974, Wellington
Land Registry.

with the drainage and incidental rights granted by conveyance
No. 59413, Wellington Deeds Registry; and I also declare that
this Proclamation shall take effect on and after the 21st day
of August 1961.
