Declaring Land to be Crown Land

A PROCLAMATION

PURSUANT to section 265 of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, I, Charles John, Viscount Cobham, the Governor-General of New Zealand, hereby declare the land described in the Schedule hereto to be Crown land and to be subject to the Land Act 1948.


SCHEDULE

SOUTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT

ALL those pieces of land containing 5,289 acres 2 roods 5 perches, more or less, being the land known as Pakaraka A 8 and A 9 Blocks in Blocks X, XIII, XIV, and XV, Tarawera Survey District. (M.L. Plan 18390.)

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, and issued under the Seal of New Zealand, this 9th day of August 1961.

Proclaiming a Tribal District Under the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act and Consequential Revocations

A PROCLAMATION

PURSUANT to section 6 of the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act 1945, I, Charles John, Viscount Cobham, the Governor-General of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare the parts of New Zealand described in the Schedule hereto to be tribal districts under the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act 1945 with the respective names therein set out, and do hereby revoke the earlier Proclamation dated 2 June 1948 and published in the Gazette of 10 June 1948, Vol. II, page 705.


FIRST SCHEDULE

ARAWA NO. 2 DISTRICT

ALL that area in the South Auckland Land District bounded by a line commencing at Trig. Station No. 27 (Puwhenua), being the eastern corner of Block VII, Tapapa East Survey District; thence north-westerly along a right line in the direction of Trig. Station No. 146 (Te Weraiti), being the western corner of Block IV, Opoutihi Survey District, to its intersection with the production of a right line between the north-eastern corner of Section 2, Block XI, Waihi South Survey District,

and Trig. Station 1039 (Otanewainuku), situated in Block XVI, Otanewainuku Survey District; thence easterly to and along the last-mentioned right line to the said Trig. Station 1039 (Otanewainuku), and a right line to the north-eastern corner of Section 2, Block XI, Waihi South Survey District; thence southerly along a right line to the south-eastern corner of Te Riuotepapa Block and a right line to the south-western corner of Allotment 63, Parish of Matata, in Block XV, Rotoma Survey District; thence easterly along a right line to Trig. Station 16 (Mount Edgecumbe) in Block XIII, Rotoma Survey District; thence southerly along a right line to Trig. Station H in Block V, Galatea Survey District; thence south-westerly along a right line to Trig. Station 38A in Block IX, Kaingaroa Survey District; thence southerly along a right line to the northernmost corner of Kaingaroa No. 1A North Block and the western boundary of that block to its westernmost corner; thence westerly along the southern boundary of Paeroa East No. 3c Block, along the southern boundary of Paeroa East No. 3A Block and its production to the middle of the Torepatutahi Stream, down the middle of that stream and the Waikato River to its confluence with the Whangapoa Stream; thence north-westerly along a right line to Trig. Station F (Ngautuku) in Block VI, Te Atiamuri Survey District; thence westerly along a right line in the direction of the confluence of the Waikato and Waipapa Rivers to its intersection with a right line between the mouth of the Waihora Stream in Lake Taupo and Trig. Station No. 807 (Uraura) in Block VII, Ngautuku Survey District; thence northerly along the last-mentioned right line to Trig. Station 807 (Uraura) aforesaid, along a right line to Trig. Station No. 27 (Puwhenua), being the point of commencement; excluding the Borough of Rotorua as described in the Gazette, 1946, on page 1085.

ARAWA NO. 3 DISTRICT

ALL that area in the South Auckland Land District bounded by a line commencing at the north-eastern corner of Section 2, Block XI, Waihi South Survey District; thence proceeding northerly along a right line passing through Trig. Station J in Block IV, Waihi South Survey District, to the sea coast; thence south-easterly along the sea coast to a point on the production of a right line between Mount Edgecumbe Trig. Station in Block XIII, Rangitaiki Upper Survey District, and the westernmost corner of Allotment 110, Rangitaiki Parish, in Block VI, Awaateatua Survey District; thence southerly to and along the said right line to Mount Edgecumbe Trig. Station; thence westerly along a right line to the south-western corner of Allotment 63, Parish of Matata; thence northerly along a right line to the south-eastern corner of Te Riuotepapa Block and a right line to the north-eastern corner of Section 2, Block XI, Waihi Survey District, the point of commencement.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, and issued under the Seal of New Zealand, this 28th day of July 1961.
