A PROCLAMATION
PURSUANT to section 14 of the Wildlife Act 1953, I, Charles John, Viscount Cobham, the Governor-General of New Zealand, hereby proclaim and declare the area of land described in the Schedule hereto to be a wildlife refuge for the purposes of the Wildlife Act 1953.

Restricting the Use of Boats in a Wildlife Refuge in the
Ashburton Acclimatisation District

A PROCLAMATION
PURSUANT to section 14 of the Wildlife Act 1953, I, Charles John, Viscount Cobham, the Governor-General of New Zealand, hereby revoke the First Schedule of the Proclamation dated 13 February 1957 and published in the Gazette, 21 February 1957, No. 13, page 259, relating to the restrictions as to the use of boats on Lake Heron; and hereby proclaim and declare that the restrictions set forth in the Schedule hereto shall henceforward apply to the use of boats on the aforesaid Lake Heron.

SCHEDULE
RESTRICTIONS AS TO THE USE OF BOATS UNDER THE WILDLIFE AMENDMENT ACT 1956
THE use of boats on Lake Heron is hereby restricted to boats wholly propelled by oars or paddles, except that the Secretary for Internal Affairs may, for the purpose of piscicultural or other scientific investigations, authorise the use of boats propelled by any other means.

PURSUANT to section 439 of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby sets apart the Maori freehold land described in the Schedule hereto for the purpose of a marae for the common use and benefit of the members of the Pirirakau hapu of the Ngaiterangi tribe.

PURSUANT to section 31 of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby confers upon the Maori Land Court jurisdiction to hear and determine any claims to ownership or possession of three greenstone meres and a whalebone mere held by the Maori Trustee.
