Additional Members of the West Otago Rabbit Board
(Notice No. Ag. 7301)
Pursuant to section 25 of the Rabbits Act 1955, the Minister
of Agriculture hereby publishes the following resolution
passed by the West Otago Rabbit Board on the 7th day of
April 1961.
RESOLUTION
Resolved that elective members of Board be increased to six.

Releasing Land from the Provisions of Part XXIV of the
Maori Affairs Act 1953 (Bay of Islands Development
Scheme)
Pursuant to section 332 of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, the
Board of Maori Affairs hereby declares that, on the date of
the publication of this notice in the Gazette, the land de-
scribed in the Schedule hereto shall cease to be subject to the
provisions of Part XXIV of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, the
said land being so subject by virtue of a notice dated 12 June
1930 and published in the Gazette, 26 June 1930, Volume II,
page 2054.

Pursuant to section 332 of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, the
Board of Maori Affairs hereby declares that, on the date of
the publication of this notice in the Gazette, the land de-
scribed in the Schedule hereto shall cease to be subject to the
provisions of Part XXIV of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, the
said land being so subject by virtue of a notice dated 15 Sep-
tember 1930 and published in the Gazette, 25 September 1930,
Volume III, page 2850.

every such member shall be so elected by postal ballot in a
manner determined by the South Auckland Education Board
in the case of the first election, and by the Board of the
school in the case of any subsequent election.
(2) The first such election shall be held on a date to be
specified by the South Auckland Education Board, and such
an election shall be held in the first week of the month of May
in the year 1965 and in every third year thereafter, or as
soon thereafter as may be convenient on a date to be
specified by the Board. For the purpose of the first such
election the Secretary of the South Auckland Education
Board, or a deputy appointed by him, shall be the returning
officer and for all subsequent elections the Secretary of the
Board of Governors shall be the returning officer.

Scheme of Control of Upper Hutt Post-primary School No. 2
Pursuant to section 92 of the Education Act 1914, the
Minister of Education hereby approves of the Upper Hutt
Post-primary School No. 2 being controlled in accordance
with the Standard Scheme of Control for Secondary Schools
published in the Gazette of 6 December 1928, Volume III,
page 3451:
Provided that:
(a) Clause 7 of the Standard Scheme shall be read as if
the words “Council of the nearest borough within
5 miles of the school” were omitted, and the words
“Upper Hutt Borough Council or the Hutt County
Council” were substituted therefor;
(b) Clause 8 of the Standard Scheme shall be read as if
the words “of such Council” were omitted, and the
words “or County Clerk, as the case may be, of the
Council” were substituted therefor;
(c) The Standard Scheme shall be read as if clause 9 were
revoked;
(d) Clause 11 of the Standard Scheme shali be read as
if the words “Such election shall be held in the
first week of the month of May in the year 1929
and every alternate year thereafter” were omitted,
and the words “An election shall be held in the
first week of the month of May in the year 1962,
and such an election shall be held in the first week
of the month of May in the year 1965 and in every
third year thereafter” were substituted therefor;
(e) The Standard Scheme shall be read as if the clause
numbered 13A, set out in the Schedule hereto, were
inserted after clause 13;
(f) Clause 16 of the Standard Scheme shall be read as
if the words “Borough Council” were omitted, and
the words “the Upper Hutt Borough Council or the
Hutt County Council” were substituted therefor;
(g) Clause 19 of the Standard Scheme shall be read as if—
(i) Every reference to the year 1929 were a
reference to the year 1965; and
(ii) The words “second year” were omitted, and
the words “third year” substituted therefor;
(h) The Standard Scheme shall be read as if clause 43 were
revoked, and the clause numbered 43 set out in the
Schedule hereto were substituted therefor;
(i) The Standard Scheme shall be read as if every reference
to a biennial appointment were a reference to a
triennial appointment.
SCHEDULE
NEW CLAUSES FOR THE STANDARD SCHEME
13A. (1) In every case where any member is to be elected
by the members of the School Committees of the public
schools, in accordance with paragraph (f) of clause 2 of the
Upper Hutt Post-primary School No. 2 Board of Governors
Order 1960, every such member shall be so elected by postal
ballot in a manner determined by the Director of Education
in the case of the first election, and by the Board of the
school in the case of any subsequent election.
(2) The first such election shall be held on a date to be
specified by the Director of Education, and such an election
shall be held in the first week of the month of May in the
year 1965 and in every third year thereafter, or as soon
thereafter as may be convenient on a date to be specified
by the Board. For the purposes of the first such election the
Director of Education, or a deputy appointed by him, shall
be the returning officer and for all subsequent elections the
Secretary of the Board of Governors shall be the returning
officer.
43. From time to time as may be necessary the Board shall
appoint a Secretary, and shall appoint him or some other
person with authority to receive money on the Board’s
account. The Board shall forthwith inform the Minister of
every such appointment. Where the Principal is appointed
Secretary of the Board he shall not receive any additional
remuneration in respect of that appointment.
