The Benmore Rabbit District Order 1959 (Notice No. Ag. 6868)

ORDER IN COUNCIL

At the Government House at Wellington this 14th day of October 1959

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to the Rabbits Act 1955, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.

ORDER

  1. (1) This order may be cited as the Benmore Rabbit District Order 1959.
    (2) This order shall come into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette.

  2. The boundaries of the Benmore Rabbit District, which was constituted by Order in Council on the 25th day of August 1949,* are hereby altered and redefined, and as from the commencement of this order the boundaries of the said district shall be those specified in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF THE BENMORE RABBIT DISTRICT

ALL that area in the Otago Land District and in the County of Waitaki, containing 273,400 acres, more or less; bounded by a line commencing at the confluence of the Ahuriri and Waitaki Rivers; thence generally westerly and northerly up the centre of the Ahuriri River to the confluence of Snowy Gorge Stream; thence generally north-easterly up the centre of that stream and the south-eastern boundary of Run 94 to a saddle; thence generally north-easterly, north-westerly, and again north-easterly along the south-eastern, north-eastern, and south-eastern boundaries of that Run 94 through Mount Peterson and north-easterly along the summit of the Barrier Range to Mount Maitland; thence north-easterly to the source of Temple Stream and north-easterly and south-easterly down Temple Stream to its confluence with the Hopkins River; thence southerly down the eastern bank of the Hopkins River to Lake Ohau; thence generally westerly, southerly, and easterly along the northern, western, and southern shores of Lake Ohau to and generally south-easterly down the centre of the Ohau River to its confluence with the Waitaki River; thence generally southerly down the centre of the Waitaki River to the confluence of the Ahuriri River, the point of commencement.

PURSUANT to the Rabbits Act 1955, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.

ORDER

  1. (1) This order may be cited as the Ahuriri Rabbit District Order 1959.
    (2) This order shall come into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette.

  2. The boundaries of the Ahuriri Rabbit District, which was constituted by Order in Council on the 28th day of March 1957,* are hereby altered and redefined; and as from the commencement of this order the boundaries of the said district shall be those specified in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF THE AHURIRI RABBIT DISTRICT

ALL that area in the Otago Land District and in the Counties of Vincent and Waitaki, containing 208,000 acres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at the summit of Mount Huxley in Hunter Survey District; thence generally southerly along the summit of the Barrier Range to Mount Peterson; thence generally southerly, south-easterly, and south-westerly along the eastern, north-eastern, and south-eastern boundaries of Run 94 to Snowy Gorge Stream; thence generally south-westerly down the centre of Snowy Gorge Stream to its confluence with the Ahuriri River; thence generally south-easterly down the centre of the main stream of the Ahuriri River to a point in line with the western boundary of Run 201B, Ahuriri Survey District; thence south-westerly to and along that boundary to the junction of the Dunstan Range and Wether Range; thence generally south-westerly along the summit of Dunstan Range through Trig. Z to the north-eastern boundary of Run 235C, Lindis Survey District; thence generally north-westerly and south-westerly along the north-eastern and north-western boundaries of Run 235C to the confluence of Pass Burn and Breast Burn; thence generally northerly and westerly up Breast Burn to the north-eastern boundary of Run 236; thence north-westerly along that boundary to and north-easterly along the south-eastern boundary of Run 335B and north-westerly along the north-eastern boundary of Run 335B to Dingle Burn, Mid-Hawea Survey District; thence north-easterly along a straight line to the south-western corner of Run 94 on the southern boundary of Stafford Survey District; thence north-easterly along the north-western boundary of Run 94 to Mount Huxley, the point of commencement.

PURSUANT to the Public Works Act 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby directs the sale of the land described in the Schedule hereto, such land being no longer required for the public work for which it was taken.

Setting Apart Maori Freehold Land as a Maori Reservation

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to section 439 of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby sets apart the Maori freehold land described in the Schedule hereto as a Maori reservation for the purpose of a church site for the Ratana Church.
