Reapportioning Representation on the South Taranaki Electric Power Board

At the Government House at Wellington this 30th day of September 1959

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to the Electric Power Boards Act 1925, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby determines as follows:

  1. This Order in Council shall come into force on the date of the next general election of members of local authorities.

  2. The constituent districts of the South Taranaki Electric Power District, which are bracketed together in the first column of the Schedule hereto, shall be a combined district for the purposes of the said Act.

  3. The local authority of the constituent district distinguished in the first column of the Schedule hereto by the letter “(P)” shall be the principal local authority of the combined district.

  4. The number of representatives of each constituent district or combined district of the South Taranaki Electric Power District on the South Taranaki Electric Power Board shall be the number specified in the Schedule hereto opposite the name of that constituent district or combined district.

  5. The first election of the representatives of the combined district and of the Patea Borough, and the first election of the additional representative of the Hawera Borough shall be held on the date of the said next general election.

  6. The Order in Council dated the 11th day of May 1931 and published in the Gazette on the 21st day of the same month at page 1543, reapportioning representation on the South Taranaki Electric Power Board, is hereby revoked.

The Lake Wakatipu Rabbit District Order 1959 (Notice No. Ag. 6851)

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to the Rabbits Act 1955, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.

ORDER

  1. (1) This order may be cited as the Lake Wakatipu Rabbit District Order 1959.

(2) This order shall come into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette.

  1. The boundaries of the Lake Wakatipu Rabbit District, which was constituted by Order in Council on the 22nd day of June 1935,* are hereby altered and redefined and, as from the commencement of this order, the boundaries of the said district shall be those specified in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF THE LAKE WAKATIPU RABBIT DISTRICT

ALL that area in the Otago Land District and in Lake County and Queenstown Borough containing 57,500 acres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at the south-eastern corner of Run 632 on the Kawarau River in Block V, Kawarau Survey District; thence generally north-easterly along the south-eastern boundary of Run 632 to the southern boundary of Crown Survey District; thence generally westerly along that boundary to Trig. Station GG; thence generally northerly along the western boundary of Crown Survey District to Crown Peak, and along the watershed between the Cardrona and Arrow Rivers to the western boundary of Section 5, Block I, Knuckle Peak Survey District; thence generally northerly, westerly, and southerly, along the eastern, northern, and western boundaries of Run 25 to and south-westerly down Soho Creek to its confluence with the Arrow River; thence south-westerly down the centre of the Arrow River to the confluence of Bush Creek; thence generally westerly up Bush Creek to and southerly along the western boundary of Section 24, Block XVII, Shotover Survey District, and north-westerly along the south-western boundary of Run 26 to the south-eastern corner of Section 30, Block XVII, Shotover Survey District; thence south-westerly along a straight line to the Plane Table at Skippers Saddle on the Skippers Highway; thence south-westerly along a straight line to the south-western corner of part Run 27, Block XIX, Shotover Survey District, on the Shotover River; thence generally south-easterly down the centre of that river to the Arthurs Point Bridge; thence generally southerly to and along the Queenstown-Wanaka via Arrowtown Main Highway to the north-western boundary of the Town of Queenstown; thence north-easterly along that boundary to the south-western boundary of Section 75, Block XX, Shotover Survey District; thence south-easterly along that boundary to and south-westerly along the south-eastern boundary of Suburbs Street, Town of Queenstown, and its production to the northern shore of the Frankton Arm, Lake Wakatipu; thence generally easterly along the northern shore of Frankton Arm to and down the centre of the Kawarau River to a point in line with the eastern boundary of Run 632; thence northerly to the point of commencement.

Validating Proceedings in Connection with the Mount Wellington Borough Council’s Loan of £770,000

At the Government House at Wellington this 23rd day of September 1959

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

WHEREAS the Mount Wellington Borough Council has commenced proceedings for raising a loan of £770,000 to be known as the Sewerage Reticulation Loan 1959:

And whereas the said Council has prepared a special roll in respect of the part of its district which is to receive the benefit of the said loan:

And whereas the said proceedings are irregular or defective in that, contrary to regulation 7 of the Local Authorities Loans Regulations 1957, the said Council made application to the Local Authorities Loans Board for sanction to the said loan before the said special roll had been authenticated:

And whereas it appears that the ratepayers have not been misled by such irregularity or defect as aforesaid and it is expedient to validate the same:

Now, therefore, pursuant to section 130 of the Local Authorities Loans Act 1956, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby orders and declares that the proceedings in connection with the raising of the said loan shall be valid to all intents and purposes as though the said application had not been made until the said special roll had been authenticated, and hereby further orders and declares that the validity of the proceedings in connection with the raising of the said loan or of the security for the said loan shall not be questioned on the ground of the irregularity or defect aforesaid.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to the Local Authorities Loans Act 1956, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby consents to the borrowing by the local authorities mentioned in the Schedule hereto by way of loan of the whole or any part of the respective amounts specified in that Schedule.
