Releasing Land from the Provisions of Part XXIV of the
Maori Affairs Act 1953 (Tokaanu Development Scheme)

PURSUANT to section 332 of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, the
Board of Maori Affairs hereby declares that, on the date of
the publication of this notice in the Gazette, the land described
in the Schedule hereto shall cease to be subject to the pro-
visions of Part XXIV of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, the
said land being so subject by virtue of a notice dated 31
March 1932 and published in the Gazette, 7 April 1932,
Volume I, page 740.

The Standards Act 1941—Draft New Zealand Standard
Specification No. D 5733 for Standing Orders for Counties

PURSUANT to subsection (3) of section 8 of the Standards Act
1941, notice is hereby given that the above draft New Zealand
standard specification is being circulated.

All persons who may be affected by this specification and
who desire to comment thereon may, on application, obtain
copies free of charge from the N.Z. Standards Institute, 201
Lambton Quay (P.O. Box 195), Wellington C.1.

The closing date for the receipt of comment is 12 April
1959.

Public Service Board of Appeal—Election of Members 1959

PURSUANT to section 14 of the Public Service Amendment Act
1927, Monday, the 25th day of May 1959, has been appointed
to be the day on which an election will be held at Wellington,
for the purposes of electing two members of the Public
Service Board of Appeal.

Nominations in writing, by not less than three officers
entitled to vote and consented to on the face of the nomina-
tion paper signed by the candidate, may be made on forms
obtainable from the office of the Public Service Commis-
sion. Nominations must reach the returning officer, office of
the Public Service Commission, Wellington, not later than
noon on Friday, the 3rd day of April 1959, being the date fixed
by regulation for that purpose.

The Land and Income Tax Act 1954, Interest on Income Tax
Paid in Advance

PURSUANT to section 207 of the Land and Income Tax Act
1954 as amended by section 89 (c) of the Income Tax Assess-
ment Act 1957, the Minister of Finance has prescribed that
interest at 2½ per centum per annum will be credited on
advance payments of income tax made by a taxpayer, being
a subsisting company or a public authority (other than either
of them in the capacity of a trustee or agent) or a Maori
authority, which will become payable during the financial
year ending 31 March 1960, provided the total interest so
calculated amounts to 5s. or more.

Advance payments carry interest for each complete month
commencing from 2 March 1959, or the date of payment
(whichever is the later) to 1 February 1960, inclusive.

Notice to Make Returns of Land Under the Land and
Income Tax Act 1954

PURSUANT to the Land and Income Tax Act 1954, the Com-
missioner of Inland Revenue hereby gives notice as follows:

  1. A return of land held as at noon on 31 March 1959 is
    required from every person and company, whether a taxpayer
    or not, being the owner of land in New Zealand within the
    meaning of the Land and Income Tax Act 1954, where the
    total unimproved value exceeds £6,000.

  2. Returns are required to be delivered or forwarded to the
    district office of the Taxes Division, Inland Revenue Depart-
    ment, where the taxpayer’s records are filed, not later than
    7 April 1959.

  3. Return forms are available at all district offices of the
    Taxes Division, Inland Revenue Department, and at all post
    offices.

  4. Any person or company failing to furnish a return within
    the prescribed time is liable to a fine not exceeding £100 or
    not less than £2.
