Specifications Approved Under the Dangerous Goods Regulations 1958
PURSUANT to the Dangerous Goods Regulations 1958, the Chief Inspector notifies for public information approval of the following specifications:
Regulation No. Specification
10 (2) Specifications issued by the United States Interstate Commerce Commission for containers for inflammable liquids and those contained in “General Classification of Merchandise. Dangerous Goods by Merchandise Trains” issued by the British Transport Commission are approved for dangerous goods of Class I.
Specification 17E for steel drums issued by the United States Interstate Commerce Commission is approved for dangerous goods of Class II.
46 (2) Specification 17E for steel drums (single trip) issued by the United States Interstate Commerce Commission.
96 American Petroleum Institute Specification for Line Pipe (A.P.I. Standard 5-L).
101 “Recommended Practice on Form of Agreement and Specification for Pipe Line Crossings under Railway Tracks” issued by the American Petroleum Institute (A.P.I. Code No. 26).
155 British Standard Specification No. 642 : 1951 – Calcium Carbide (Graded Sizes).
183 Cylinders for permanent gases shall conform either to New Zealand Standard Specifications N.Z.S.S. 448 – “High Carbon” Steel Cylinders for the storage and transport of “Permanent” Gases; or to N.Z.S.S. 449 – “Low Carbon” Steel Cylinders for the storage and transport of “Permanent” Gases; or to N.Z.S.S. 436 – Manganese Steel Gas Cylinders for Atmospheric Gases; or to Specification 3A issued by the United States Interstate Commerce Commission: Cylinders for liquefiable gases shall comply with New Zealand Standard Specifications N.Z.S.S. 275 – Steel Cylinders for the Storage and Transport of “Liquefiable” Gases except that in the case of carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, and ethylene, cylinders complying either with British Standard Specifications B.S. 1287 : 1946 – High Carbon Steel Gas Cylinders for Carbon Dioxide, Nitrous Oxide, and Ethylene, or with B.S. 1288 : 1946 – Manganese Steel Gas Cylinders for Carbon Dioxide, Nitrous Oxide, and Ethylene will be permitted. Cylinders for dissolved gases (acetylene) shall comply with the recommendations contained in the Fourth Report of the Gas Cylinders Research Committee (Cylinders for Liquefiable Gases) London, England.
187 British Standard Specification B.S. 341 : 1945 – Valve Fittings for Compressed Gas Cylinders.
203 New Zealand Standard Specification N.Z.S.S. 275 – Steel Cylinders for the Storage and Transport of “Liquefiable” Gases and Specifications Nos. 3A, 3B, 3E, 4A, and 4B issued by the United States Interstate Commerce Commission.
