THIRD SCHEDULE
ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT No. 14
Picton-Christchurch: All that highway or portion of highway in the Waimairi County and the City of Christchurch in Blocks III, VII, and XI, Christchurch Survey District, commencing at the northern boundary of Waimairi County on the Waimakariri River Bridge and proceeding generally in a south-westerly and southerly direction along Main North Road via Belfast to the junction with Cranford Street; thence along Cranford Street in a south-easterly and southerly direction to Sherborne Street and along same in a southerly direction to Bealey Avenue; thence along same in an easterly direction to Fitzgerald Avenue; thence along same in a southerly direction to terminate at the intersection of Fitzgerald Avenue and Moorhouse Avenue, being a distance of 10 miles 40 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 157032 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured violet.
Of the total length, the distance in Waimairi County is 6 miles 43 chains, more or less, of which 30 chains is half width, and the distance in Christchurch City is 4 miles 27 chains, more or less, of which 30 chains is half width.

Declaring Public Highway to be Main Highway: Designating Main Highway to be State Highway
PURSUANT to sections 11 and 12 of the National Roads Act 1953, the National Roads Board, acting with the written approval of the Minister of Works, hereby gives notice as follows:
-
The public highway described in the Schedule hereto is hereby declared to be main highway within the meaning and for the purposes of the National Roads Act 1953.
-
The main highway described in the Schedule hereto is hereby designated State highway and shall form part of the Christchurch-Timaru State Highway.
-
This notice shall come into force on the day after the date of its publication in the Gazette.
SCHEDULE
ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT No. 14
Christchurch-Timaru: All that road or portion of road in the City of Christchurch, the Borough of Riccarton, and the Counties of Waimairi and Paparua, in Blocks XI and X, Christchurch Survey District, commencing at the intersection of Fitzgerald Avenue and Moorhouse Avenue in the City of Christchurch and proceeding in a westerly direction along Moorhouse Avenue; thence in a northerly direction along Deans Avenue on the eastern boundary of Riccarton Borough to Blenheim Road; thence in a westerly direction along Blenheim Road through Riccarton Borough and Waimairi and Paparua counties and terminating at the junction with Main South Road to join the existing Christchurch-Timaru State Highway, being a distance of 5 miles 13 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 157032 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured blue.
Of the total length, the distance in Christchurch City is 2 mile 16 chains of which 43 chains is half width; the distance in Riccarton Borough is 1 mile 64 chains of which 1 mile 16 chains is half width; the distance in Waimairi County is 1 mile 17 chains of which 53 chains is half width; and the distance in Paparua County is 1 mile 12 chains.

Timaru-Dunedin: All that road or portion of road in the City of Timaru in Block XI, Arowhenua Survey District, and Blocks I and II, Patiti Survey District, commencing at the intersection of George Street and Stafford Street and proceeding along Stafford Street and King Street and terminating at the southern boundary of Timaru City, being a distance of 1 mile 58 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 156995 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured yellow.

Christchurch-Timaru: All that road or portion of road in the Borough of Ashburton in Block XIII, Ashburton Survey District, and Block XVI, Westerfield Survey District, commencing at the northern boundary of Ashburton Borough and proceeding along East Street in a south-westerly direction adjacent to the railway, across the Ashburton River; thence along Archibald Street and terminating at the south-western boundary of Ashburton Borough, being a distance of 3 miles 42 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 156996 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
