Declaring Public Highway to be Main Highway: Designating Main Highway to be State Highway

PURSUANT to sections 11 and 12 of the National Roads Act 1953, the National Roads Board, acting with the written approval of the Minister of Works, hereby gives notice as follows:

1. The public highway described in the Schedule hereto is hereby declared to be main highway within the meaning and for the purposes of the National Roads Act 1953.

2. The main highway described in the Schedule hereto is hereby designated State highway and shall form part of the Timaru-Dunedin State Highway.

3. This notice shall come into force on the day after the date of its publication in the Gazette.

SCHEDULE

ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT No. 16

TIMARU-DUNEDIN: All that public highway in the Borough of Oamaru commencing at the north-eastern boundary of the said Borough and proceeding thence generally in a south-westerly direction via Thames Highway, Thames Street, Severn Street, and Wansbeck Street and terminating at the western boundary of the said Borough, being a distance of 3 miles 26 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 155897 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.

TIMARU-DUNEDIN: All that public highway in the City of Dunedin commencing at the boundary of the Dunedin-Waitati Motorway and proceeding thence generally in a south-easterly direction via Pine Hill Road, King Street, and Duke Street; thence generally in a south-westerly direction via Cumberland Street and terminating at the junction of Cumberland Street and Water Street, being a distance of 2 miles 23 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 155896 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured blue.

DUNEDIN-GORE: All that public highway in the City of Dunedin commencing at the junction of Cumberland Street and Water Street and proceeding thence generally in a south-westerly direction via Cumberland Street, Andersons Bay Road, and Bridgman Street; thence generally in a westerly direction via Wilkie Road, South Road, and Caversham Valley Road and terminating at the western boundary of the said City, being a distance of 2 miles 67 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 155896 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.

Revoking Main Highway: Declaring Public Highway to be Main Highway: Designating Main Highway to be State Highway

PURSUANT to sections 11 and 12 of the National Roads Act 1953, the National Roads Board, acting with the written approval of the Minister of Works, hereby gives notice as follows:

1. (1) The public highway described in the First Schedule hereto shall cease to be main highway.

(2) The Order in Council* made on 11 January 1955 and declaring (inter alia) the portion of public highway described thereto to be main highway is hereby consequently amended by revoking so much of the Second Schedule thereto as relates to the said portion of public highway.

2. The public highway described in the Second Schedule hereto is hereby declared to be main highway within the meaning and for the purposes of the National Roads Act 1953.

3. The main highway described in the Second Schedule hereto is hereby designated to be State highway and shall form part of the Gore-Invercargill State Highway.

4. This notice shall come into force on the day after the date of its publication in the Gazette.

FIRST SCHEDULE

ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT No. 18

GORE-INVERCARGILL: All that portion of main highway declared as the Gore-Invercargill Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 11 January 1955 and published in the Gazette of 20 January 1955, which was formerly in Southland County but now in Invercargill City and is more particularly described as commencing opposite the north-western corner of Section 1 of 43, Block II, Invercargill Hundred, and proceeding in a south-westerly direction along Tay Street to terminate opposite the south-western corner of Section 6, Block I, Invercargill Hundred, being a distance of 36 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 156054 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured yellow.

SECOND SCHEDULE

ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT No. 18

GORE-INVERCARGILL: All that street in the City of Invercargill commencing at the junction of Racecourse Road and the Gore-Invercargill State Highway, being a point on the City boundary, and proceeding in a south-westerly and westerly direction along Tay Street and terminating at the south-west corner of Section 22, Block II, Town of Invercargill, being a distance of 2 miles 20 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 156054 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.
